Last weeks thread here

Welcome to this week’s casual kōrero thread!

This post will be pinned in this community so you can always find it, and will stay for about a week until replaced by the next one.

It’s for talking about anything that might not justify a full post. For example:

  • Something interesting that happened to you
  • Something humourous that happened to you
  • Something frustrating that happened to you
  • A quick question
  • A request for recommendations
  • Pictures of your pet
  • A picture of a cloud that kind of looks like an elephant
  • Anything else, there are no rules (except the rule)

So how’s it going?

We put up our Xmas tree last night, I know its too early but our 2 (nearly 3) year old is just grasping the idea and was too excited.

I'm guessing we'll get ours up soon too. But surprisingly I haven't heard any of the kids asking about it yet.

I know its too early but

Some of my neighbours have had their lights up and on for the past couple of weeks. It really does come earlier every year (not that I mind).

For years now it's been Christmas as soon as Halloween is over. I reckon it used to start even earlier until shops starting getting into Halloween.

Hell, there were plenty of retail Christmas displays before halloween over here.

My parents flew in to visit and help us sail to the Bahamas today. They are used to sailing on lake Taupo so this will be a bit different for them, hopefully in a good way. We’ve been living on the boat and sailing around the US east coast for a few months now. It was nice to finally show them our new home!

Good luck! How is it going, enjoying living on the boat? Not too much of a change?

Thanks! It’s going great. It’s definitely a big change but we are loving it. Currently in Charleston and we anchored right beside a huge warship (the Yorktown) when we first got here. It’s getting too cold here so we need to head to warmer climates.

Ah so you still have quite some sailing to do to get to the Bahamas! How long should the journey take?

If we did a straight shot from here it would be around 2.7 days. Weather is looking better to do a couple of hops down the coast though and then cross to the Bahamas so hopefully by the end of the week.

I may be asking the wrong crowd, but anyone know the easiest way to gift vbucks for Fortnite? I was looking at the digital gift cards from EB games, but it has a really convoluted way of redeeming them on Xbox, which I'm not sure a child knows how to do.

Apparently the wrong crowd! I have no idea sorry, I guess the child has parents that could help?

2

Yeah might have to rely on them I guess. You'd think it be something simple to do, but nope.

You reached the end
