Is there any way to request becoming a mod for a magazine where the creator made it and then has gone dark? I have tried to reach out to them but they aren't responding and have no acitivity

Is there any way to request becoming a mod for a magazine where the creator made it and then has gone dark? I have tried to reach out to them but they aren't responding and have no acitivity
would be a good idea to make a tag or an alert featured on the magazine if it appears no mod has logged in in over X days, with a link to apply to become one. Not sure who would approve that takeover tho... but a tag alone would be a warning to users that it was functionally unmoderated.
I placed an issue for it in codeberg, but right now it's by PM to Ernest.
I like the idea of a tag though. Would help the team decide if it's time to hand it over.
How long has it been?
They made the sub 1 week ago. I messaged them 5 days ago. I'd be happy to give it longer. I know a week isn't long. They just have no activity in the fediverse at all
Things are slow enough on most c/ommunities that five days isn't much tbh.
You can try contacting admins to see what can be done, but it likely won't amount to much that quick.
Already in talks with Ernest. We are giving the account a decent amount of time to reply before action. I just don't want to see a community I like and contribute to be unmoderated
Could just create the mag in another instance like fedia.io or kbin.lol and post in the other mag to let folks know
You are right, i could do that, but if like to keep the activity in kbin.social if possible. It might be different if I wanted to run it different but I just want it moderated
Probably kbin is new enough that @ernest hasn’t had to come up with rules about this yet. But maybe add a feature request on kbin’s bug tracker to request abandoned magazines?
