TE OP-XY

Anyone else see this thing? Personally, I think TE is out of their mind if they think it's worth $2300. I see the sentiment being repeated a lot.

The disappointing part is, you know it'll sell like crazy, anyway. Screw them for this ridiculous price gouging. Screw people for supporting their price gouging. I'm not usually a vindictive person, but I hope sales are awful so they don't inspire anyone else to try this approach.

Seriously, anyone considering this thing, go buy a Digitakt or an Oxi One and use it with your phone and take a nice trip to Thailand or something with your leftover money.

All the synthtubers are gushing. I'd gush too if TE forwarded me one early for free.

Most TE products are definitely extremely priced. I'm not getting pissed about it though. There is obviously a market for them and there is little in direct competition when it comes to size/form factor + feature set.

That being said, not worth it for me. Would rather buy one of my big dream synths for that price.

I have the Ep133 and while it has its quirks and limits, it's a fun device at a lot more reasonable price.

Yeah, I thought the KOII looked OK, and the price was fair, if not exactly worth it for what seems like some pretty fragile hardware with a laughable amount of memory in the mid-2020s. I think the new Roland P-6 is a much better choice if you want a portable, battery powered sampler. It didn't exist when the EP133 came out, though.

One often overlooked strength of the E133 is actually as a Midi sequencer. It has very high amount of tracks and high recording resolution for sequencing midi tracks compared to any other midi sequencer out there.

If I could have recorded midi live during performance with it, I probably wouldn't have bought my korg SQ-64

That's pretty cool. Sounds like it might pair well with something like the Retrokit RK008 or a Bastl MIDI Looper.
