It's easy to forget between all the times of praying for interesting weather that there is very much such a thing as too much rain.

11

Absolutely massive hit for Albon shiieeet. Glad he's ok.

Williams cars have taken so much damage this year.. It just doesn't end.

10

Aston Martin mechanics got a tough job ahead of themselves. Both drivers had hard hits against the barriers.

I'm wondering if we get some further starting grid complications with all these crashes so close to the race. There could be some tricky repairs and possibly either a quota penalty or just not enough time for the mechanics.

Holy shit Verstappen's on 12th. With the grid penalty he will start 17th.

McLaren has mad plot armor this weekend.

7

Omg Norris, made it by the skin of his teeth.

Surprised to see Hamilton go out in Q1. Experienced drivers are usually expected to do better in wet conditions.

Tragic result for Haas cars after recent good performances.

Probably the best opportunity the Sauber cars have to get a good qualifying position. Unfortunate to see Zhou go out.

6

This has been pushed 15 minutes out.

Edit, an even further 15 minutes more. Now estimating 4:30 local time.

2

Absolute carnage of a session. I was on edge seeing Norris at risk in Q1, then Q2 was looking ropey with the first red flag. What a turnaround. Going to be a spicy race now.

Now albon. Way way too many red flags in conditions that are challenging but not terrible. What is going on?

This is what happens when you have to stop the racing because of the spray every time it rains. Drivers are losing their ability to drive safely in the rain because they do it so rarely

Now albon. Way way too many red flags in conditions that are challenging but not terrible. What is going on?

Drivers have been complaining about the new tarmac all weekend, probably making grip in the wet even worse and more unpredictable than usual.

2

I'm expecting the race start to be equally dramatic. Although if there's fewer cars able to make their grid slots because of these quali crashes, we might get through the first lap without a red.

Edit - Russel on the front row. Definitely going to be dramatic.

Visibility on track seems awful from turn 14 to turn 1. So much fog/spray in the air.

What a qualifying for VCARB! Ocon P4!

Even with the crash Albon is P7, ahead of Piastri.

Too many people are crashing. Conditions are difficult but not that difficult. Hell we have had worse conditions at Interlagos in the past and we had less crashes

3

It's happening! McLaren has been given a way out again. Lando now has to bring top form for the rest of the races, and they need to hope for poor performance from max to win.

This qualifying session has been a wild ride with norris barely going through, red flags and the both RB's out in Q2...

Now lets see Q3

3

That was a hard whack for Sainz. Rear end is in pieces.

Lando needs a fast lap ASAP before the rain restarts.

2

Does anyone know what this cylinder/puck-shaped part is? I've seen drivers take it out along with the steering wheel when getting out. I don't remember seeing it before.

Of course, yet another controversial decision by the FIA, when the red flag is being pulled out after keeping it yellow until after Norris set a new time and Max just started on his lap.

How obvious does it need to get?

Bro you need to cool it with the conspiracy theories. And I say this as a max fan

5

Yeah because if lightning strikes, and strikes in the same place again, and again, and again, then how much more obvious does it need to get?

It stops being a coincidence.

Norris was already through though and max was already in the bottom 5.

Do you get the tinfoil hat out only when a decision doesn't appear to go your way, or is there always an FIA conspiracy?

I also don't like conspiracy theories (even though i said yesterday that the sprint VSC felt very manipulated), but the FIA's decisions on yellow/red/vsc have been just dangerous this weekend, waiting so long for a VSC yesterday while Hulk was so close to the track and now waiting almost a minute with the Stroll incident in this weather is just awful decision making by FIA.

1

They clearly waited for the drivers on fast laps to go through the chequered flag here, and only switched to red flag when they saw Max not improving on his last lap. I kinda understand why they do that, but yeah it's not the most safe thing to do.

The FIA is not even trying to hide it, they are doing everything in their power to make Norris win.
