How to remove the little blurb that imgur puts in lemmy posts when using imgur image?

I posted a pic of my cat to a cat community here, but it added this whole paragraph about "if you like cats, blah blah blah come see more on imgur" in an uneditable box on my page. Is there any way to remove/prevent it?

I know that's a feature, I just also heard that we should avoid uploading directly to the instance to avoid clogging it up. Is this actually an issue, or an overreaction?

Haven't seen any admin discussion about that so probably not a big deal

Well, looks like I'll stick to uploading to Lemmy directly then. Thanks!

What link did you use to post the image? I think using the direct link (the one including the extension and no tags) will not add anything but the image.

You can get it by right clicking on the image on imgur and copying image address or opening the image in a new tab and copying from the address bar.

That's what I did actually! I thought that would bypass any weirdness, but looks like it still did that.

Seems like a bug that we have no recourse for the auto-generated text beneath, especially, directly linked images
