Sneaky resident magpie stealing my chip just before.
The resident mudlark rocked up but this magpie just goes to town on it. Tonight mags did exactly that but still holding the chip in its beak. So lucky that bird and I are on very good terms. So highly aggressive but just not to me. Dogs, cats, other birds, people she doesn't recognise it just goes flat out at them. I like her. She's the protector. She earned that chip.
I went to Coles deli today and because I don't go by weight I usually just say "a big handful of that thanks mate". He was a dude with giant hands and I came out with 434gms of chorizo salami. It's really good chorizo though. No complaints.
I got my hair cut and beard trimmed today so I look normal. My dad was always telling me to get it cut and there's too much at stake, so I don't want anything being a potential obstacle to another job.
And I think I might look alright? I've lost some hair and pretty much always had it tied back, so I'm not sure if I'd grow it out again when shit gets stable
I liked the idea of long hair but was never completely happy with mine. I felt like it was curly in the wrong way and just felt like a lot of work to maintain for someone that didn't want to put the effort in.
I'm sorry you're going through alot of shit right now.
One thing I like to do to de-stress is to write things down. Lists upon list. Mark things off. Add things. It helps to declutter my mind while actively getting things done.
I've been there, ugh. Gentle hugs. I used to wake up around 1:30-2am with my heart pounding and in the midst of a panic attack. For some reason it helped me to ask myself, "what exactly am I anxious about and can I do anything about it right now?" It's an awful feeling for sure.
Added fun if you're afab: if you have no stressors you're aware of, go see a doctor. Feelings of dread and heart racing can be indicative of cardio problems, we present differently to amabs
I just want to shout out to the teenagers emerging from the bushes after a bit of "Fun" at the park yesterday. I'm pretty sure I'm the only one who clicked what was going on, dont worry. I didn't see anything NSFW, but dude you cant stagger out like your 10 tons lighter and have your girl emerge 5 seconds later adjusting her dress. Man teenagers are idiots hey.
I'm a weirdo who never had sex in a car. Is it as uncomfortable as it sounds? Fooled around a bit, sure. But for more, I can't think of a worse place.
I suppose I moved out of home young, so there were better options.
is it uncomfortable? heck yes.
But well worth doing at least once in your life. Doesnt have to be IN the car. One a summers night "On the car" or doors open, boot, car adjacent. Its all good and all very doable.
Now Winter on the other hand, THAT becomes a struggle.
Nope. You have not sold it to me at all! On the car? Are we talking like the bonnet? The roof? I just have more questions! 😂
I can understand the back of a panel wagon: I remember they had special mattresses with the wheel wells cut out. Anything else though would be pretty restrictive. I was a fan of cuddling up together in the slightly reclined front passenger seat (I was smaller in those days). But the back seat was uneven and had all those pesky buckles and seat belts etc.
Looking back, its because I started late I expect and didn't have that teenage sex period. I have always looked younger than my age, and well let's just say that didn't make me attractive to girls when I was in the 15-18 age range. I got my first girlfriend at 19.
Big news. The deep sinkhole around the Telstra pit next door is finally getting fixed - three years after the plastic board was bolted to the ground. Nice bloke doing the fixing said that Telstra has QUADRUPLED the number of contractors hired to fix problems, and increased the managers that allocate/organise fixes from 7 to 26!!! Apparently if you SnapSendSolve a problem it'll be done within a week - faster if someone has tripped or fallen. I will be very interested to see if this outbreak of efficiency lasts.
Hopefully somebody eventually fixes all the “temporary” yellow plastic board coverings on High St. they have been there since before Covid from memory.
Indeed. I was a (minor) victim of Pollenpocalypse in Melbourne. I was still having breathing issues a month later. I miss some things about Melbourne, but the pollen and associated breathing issues are not among them.
I sent my biggest new client proposal today (in terms of dollar value) since starting this little insignificant business of mine. I thought it would take years before I'd be pitching for work of this value, but a few things lined up to get this opportunity. Spent hours thinking over the pricing to quote, resisting the urge to quote super cheap just to get in the work. I'm not about being the very cheapest, because I take pride in what I do and doing it well. But also I'm a one-man show so I need to be realistic on what people are going to pay for me vs bigger businesses. They probably come to me expecting cheaper. Thinking of pricing for my work sucks.
Fingers crossed they go ahead! It will keep me busy for a bit.
Popped into the new QV Five Guys. First of all, I can't believe Americans eat like this. There were enough fries in their smallest serving to comfortably feed a family of four, with leftovers for the next day. It looks expensive compared to other burger places but it's probably fairly equivalent if you price it by weight. The fries and Cajun seasoning on them were so good. The burgers come with two patties; it took all my strength to push through the meat sweats to finish the last 20% of mine.
Overall, the fries were definitely a winner. I'd choose Huxtaburger over this if I was really craving a burg, even if the serving size there is smaller for the same price. I might be tempted to return for a milkshake or hotdog but maybe after a week or two recovery period. In the mean time think I need a shower. 😮💨
I put on a lot of weight after living in the US for the first few years. They have such a great selection of junk food outlets. I made a commitment to eat at least once at each one. Then it took me five years to get my weight back down again.
Never watched the Sopranos until now. Great show, but as someone who grew up with Italian grandparents, calling pasta sauce 'gravy' makes my eye twitch.

My last licence renewal did too, but it's now been over ten years so it's photo change time.
I've just walked myself to a park with heaps of gum trees and although I can hear the freeway in the background, it's still been so good to kick my shoes off and lie on the grass, feet touching the earth, looking at the leaves in the sky and hearing the commotion of garrulous lorikeets and kookaburras. I love the weather on days like this. I think I should organise a day up in the hills on the weekend with the other day set aside for a massive house clean
its probably a good thing that voting in mandatory. I already put 10x more effort into putting the stupid slip in the envelope than I would normally be prepared to do. I've done mine, but turns out that both the post boxes near home are no longer there. Shows how often I post something & how much attention I pay. I'll drive around with it later until I find one.
Working on clearing the shed this arvo, and a factory or something industrial nearby has a siren that sounds very much like our doorbell. Every time it goes off I’m like, doorbell?!
(Our doorbell doesn’t sound like a siren; their siren sounds like an electronic doorbell)
My work bought pizza today because they made everyone come in due to big systems switch. It's dominos and it's all thick crust 😞 I'll take a side salad and some water please
Dominos has to be the worst pizza out there, right? My local (when I used to go) did a Hawaiian with about 10 pieces of pineapple, a sprinkle of ham, and an overwhelming amount of paste it basically tasted like bread and tomato paste.

Oh sick discovered a camper my car can actually tow! Got a turbo diesel with nearly 2 tonnes of towing capacity, but if I stand on the towball thats almost too much weight for it. Not exactly the best design in the world.
unfortunately not that simple. Its the actual weight at the towball itself that's my limiting factor. A little baby camper trailer will almost always be under a tonn. And there isnt a great way to measure tow ball limit annoyingly.
I meant more checking that the listed ball weight for the camper is accurate. Weigh bridges can have different sections, so you detach the trailer, position the main axle on one section and the jockey wheel on the next, make sure it's level, then you'll get an accurate camper ball weight....
I say this as a PSA on account of when I was looking to buy our first camper, the one we were looking at, the guy had replaced the stats plate (? The metal plate with the gross weight, ball weight etc) with a different one, unbeknownst to us. Ball weight was well above what he was claiming as he'd had stainless steel cabinets added. Luckily we caught it before buying.
ah yeah, thats a good idea. These Marlin ones seem to be around 30kg so thats probably perfect for us. They claim the baby one can be towed by a corolla.
Repeat after me - Hayman Reese, Hayman Reese - best towing rigs in the goddamn world. Seriously, they're bolt on towing rigs that can be fitted to practically anything and will tow the Titanic up Mt Kosciusko. If you plan to go off road, or have variable loads, they're the best. I had an H frame one put on my Ford 250 for towing horses and NEVER regretted it. Made light work of towing a 3 horse trailer all over Vic and NSW back in the day. Fully loaded too. And I found I was de-bogging other people's rigs out of muddy ground on a fairly regular basis. Mind you, I did have a low torque gearbox added on too which helped.
I would say take a gap year if you're feeling a bit lost/overwhelmed because god knows it becomes much harder to do as you get older. And some of the people you meet/experiences you have may turn out to be pivotal to the rest of your life, even if you end up going in a different direction.
Vallee was a truly disgusting person who was very charming once the microphone was on
he was much parodied by Fred Allen, Stan Frieberg and Hans Conried , who were radio and tv stars of the 50s and 60s . ( not the disgusting part, just the smarmy part )
It was wonderful hearing Bert Lahr do some of his vaudeville routine ( I couldn't find a copy anywhere ) , it was the same schtick he did as the Cowardly Lion years later on The Wizard of Oz. He was a very famous star and the audience at the time would have gotten all those old jokes he did. Us, we have no clue what he's doing, just that he was amusing and eccentric.
Similar but different, I bought the Suicide 2nd album on discogs and after it arrived I noticed it was made in West Germany. Still blows my mind that Germany was like that when I was a child.
I used to buy joke singles as gifts for an old friend of mine in high school, and I definitely recall buying a few Soviet Army Ensemble ones from the local Op shop 😆
Gibson approved!
Patiently waiting for you to unbox it so she can fill it with TP
I'm making her a castle lol
This is just incredible 😂😂😂
nice catapult
A CATalyst amp box is perfect for Gibson!
Happy birthday Golden King
What a beautiful colour he is. Happy Woofday buddy. 🍖
Sleepy doggy!
He’s beautiful. Happy birthday doggo!
This dog has nicer hair than most people
Just grabbed a 2nd amp so I can have a stereo guitar setup!
I promise, this is very exciting lol
I think one of your Gibsons may be a little... unhappy?... if you tried to connect them to an amp :D
😂
Well, your committed now

As a person with big hands, I have the opposite issue... Just a bit more thanks
I think he took it as a personal challenge because he laughed and I've never seen him even smile before.

No one buys the excuse, 'I look like shit because I'm so busy working'
I'm sure you're looking fresh! I always feel great after a haircut, and walk around more confident for a couple days 😀
Love me guys with long hair in ponytails tbh. Defo grow it back out when you're stable!!
I liked the idea of long hair but was never completely happy with mine. I felt like it was curly in the wrong way and just felt like a lot of work to maintain for someone that didn't want to put the effort in.
I love that martial artist man bun/ponytail thing some men do.
booo. Woke up with my heart pumping and feeling anxious. I guess I need to start actively incorporating relaxation techniques again.
Hugs.
I'm sorry you're going through alot of shit right now.
One thing I like to do to de-stress is to write things down. Lists upon list. Mark things off. Add things. It helps to declutter my mind while actively getting things done.
I hope you find solutions to your troubles ♥

Edit: for clarity.

Ah to be young again
You know, I ALMOST miss hanging out at maccas till 3am in bayswater and having fun in the back seat of a commodore or falcon.
Almost. not quite.
At least you got a big car to fool around in. Try that stuff in a Hyundai excel. No wonder my back hurts.
I dunno, hooked up in an impreza once. that was sub optimal.
I'm a weirdo who never had sex in a car. Is it as uncomfortable as it sounds? Fooled around a bit, sure. But for more, I can't think of a worse place.

I get to claim never ever about cars. Wooh! Just awkward and who needs a gearstick in their butt?!
typically you use the back seat not the front. though i have heard of front seat fun.
This reminds me of the ancient joke about Morris Minors - of the 101 things to do in the back seat. Number 47 was 'Grab the steering wheel'.
Great song but a little creepy now

ah crap is that what it is? my eyes are killing me!
Suffering here too :(
I'm trying not to pop a hayfever tablet every day because they still work for me. Today is a struggle.
It's awful.
Currently wish I possessed neither tonsils nor ears
🔪
Cunning plan, might make my hat fit funny.
No more 🕶️
At night so I can see so I can see you 🎶

Very not looking forward to this week of work. Doing the latest possible shift, 1230 to 8.30. then week after that back to 8am to 4pm, much better.
It's been an absolute shit of a day except for getting the amp.
Thank fuck for music to de-stress.
What's your rig look like now?
Good Night everyone. 😘 Sweet dreams.
Happy National Dessert Day 🙂
Er….
That looks awesome
Holy shit! Please tell me they are jelly shots?
Yep. Vodka ahoy!
Whoa!!! Cheers 🍻
Spiders!! Run!!!!
If you could pass a few of those jelly cups throw the crack of the door I would appreciate that.
Dude if you’re close enough to bother I absolutely will.
Neighbour got the cupcakes. Still figuring out what else can freeze or has to go bin.
Oh that’s all the left over party stuff? That’s a lot!
The cheese situation is a Thing.
Sadly I’m not a fan of cheese cakes :(
Just to humour me though are you anywhere near the SE suburbs?
No, inner West
Sheesh. I need time to process the baked goods overload
Oooh my kinda day.
A friend gave me 1 kilo of mud cake. I've had 2 slices. Approx 950 grams to go.
I shall send you a tub of lemon curd…
I already have one in the cupboard. Can provide proof if necessary.
Let me help you with that….
25 grams of cake does not a slice make
My apologies. I have worked it out to be 83.2 g eaten.
Apology (and slice) accepted
No worries. More than happy to share.
Been awhile but it looks like I’ve got lunch with my dad on Thursday.
Maybe I didn’t plan it out so well since I had planned to do my grocery shop that morning.
It’ll be good to catch up with him. Haven’t seen him in months.
Never watched the Sopranos until now. Great show, but as someone who grew up with Italian grandparents, calling pasta sauce 'gravy' makes my eye twitch.
It's a NY and NJ thing.
Well I'm from Utica and I've never heard the term 'gravy'
- Simpsons reference.
I’ve never seen the show either. Apparently it’s one of the best series out there. Maybe one day I’ll fire it up. I did rewatch True Detective season 1 recently. It’s even better the second time. All the other seasons can go in the bin though.
I recommend it.
One out of three stressful things done - training and exam (that I didn't study for at all, but I use the stuff frequently at work and excel at multiple choice exams so I'm confident I'll pass).
Also finally got my licence photo taken after procrastinating till the last minute. Don't want to acknowledge how much older and more stressed out I look after ten years 🥲 my old photo is one of the best ID photos I've ever had.
Next up: last day at lesser job tomorrow with lots if tidying up and handovers. And thirdly on Wednesday, big uni meeting for which I have not prepared at all and am more anxious about than today's exam, but I simply have no energy to look at today. I will not overpush myself. I'm going to go for a walk now with my journal and find some grass to lie on while it's still bright, although lomgcat is absolutely lovin' on me right now and mashing her face into my jaw.
Praying for some restful sleep tonight.
You can do the things! 💪
My somehow my last licence renewal used the old photo which is awesome. I am so young in it now! I don't want to give it up either.
That sounds delightful
Some people just need a gag.
Dont threaten me with a good time.
I'll send the perpetrator your way. You won't be having a good time.
hey hey hey, we're an inclusive community here. No kink shaming.
Came across the phrase 'inclusion navigator' at work - what/who is that? What do they do? Does anyone know? Context was occupation.
It's an advisory role for aeroplanes who feel left out and seem a bit lost.
Give a hand to someone who's lost their way 😔
give a compass and a map, maybe a myki
Ordered one mystery pizza for tomorrow.
Have to remember to pick it up and I hope it’s got stuff I like on it!
Fingers crossed! 🤞
its probably a good thing that voting in mandatory. I already put 10x more effort into putting the stupid slip in the envelope than I would normally be prepared to do. Ended up giving up and holding it to stuff it in. Am I allowed? Dont care. Jobs done. and frankly given I did some research and didn't just draw a dick I'm prepared to bet I put in more effort than some folks will.
I just folded mine. Then watched the other half try to gently fit his in the envelope with his giant man hands while laughing quietly.
Just did mine.
First time I haven't voted green
made sure all the fascists were last so that meant plain idiots and single issue candidates were higher up
Dont think we had any fascists this year. We did have a real estate agent though 🤮
same
Still need to look up the details on the weirdos on my list. Who gets last is important fundingwise, so really do care.
My partner and I did ours over the weekend. 5 candidates, and one of them needed an editor for their blurb honestly. Completely nonsensical. Put them 5 haha.
Also we just folded ours haha
One of ours had a blurb that was just one entire sentence, no punctuation. Get someone to proofread, people!
Council elections? I had a lot of trouble getting the envelope open far enough to put the ballot paper in. Ended up sticking a skewer in and waggling it about before putting the ballot paper in. I diagnose crappy quality control of envelope specifications.
that woulda been a better idea than me wiggling my pinky in there! pretty sure I heard the cat laugh at me.
I’m still waiting for my papers to arrive. Makes me wonder how big it is.
Bigger than she says, but not as big as he claims.
I've done mine, but turns out that both the post boxes near home are no longer there. Shows how often I post something & how much attention I pay. I'll drive around with it later until I find one.

Got this unusual but instantly recognisable album Peter Gunn by Mancini. 1959 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CcHwTDzPECk&list=PLkAUJkbhd-RjTVT4CRg02EpwcVcW_gPgH
side 2 has some excellent finger snapping and also piano solos by a young John T Williams ( who went on to write Jaws and Star Wars etc )
Think I might trundle down to op shop to see if they have any vinyls. 👍
Nice day to be out as well.
There's a bunch of fckin draclias and they're all playing flute
😂

Thanks!
My work bought pizza today because they made everyone come in due to big systems switch. It's dominos and it's all thick crust 😞 I'll take a side salad and some water please
There's your pay raise.
What do you mean "cost of living"? We are feeding you!
Dominos has to be the worst pizza out there, right? My local (when I used to go) did a Hawaiian with about 10 pieces of pineapple, a sprinkle of ham, and an overwhelming amount of paste it basically tasted like bread and tomato paste.
Dominos is great for me because sometimes i just really fucken want a giant tomato paste sammich
It's pretty bad. I'll eat it if it's there but I won't buy it. I feel the thin crust is the least bad but this is alllll deep pan
🍍🍕🥗🧊
Double beef, double bacon and cheese burger please Chef.

Thank you Chef!
Some sort of triple layer sandwich for me, and Mr Woof would like some leftover cat food please.

I don't watch any reality type of shows unless they're about finding gold or opals but this new Sin City Tow show on Discovery is my new little treat. I'm sure a chunk of it is staged but I don't care.
I hate reality shows mostly because they’re so staged and there’s manufactured drama or they’re told to act a certain way.
That’s the opposite of it being an organic reality show.
Most of them total trash because of that.
I watched the Germans fail miserably on MKR. Their sausages were too dry, their black forest cake was crumbly and they served liver dumplings in an over salted broth. I am now hungry again.

Wow, ok. Yeah the towball weight on that is nearly double Kia! thats worth a look, thanks.
Can you get airbags installed or better suspension? Still seems pretty crazy, my MUX tows my camper fine without airbags.
MUX is a lot bigger car than a mid sized SUV though. Diesel engine cant compensate for a chassis and suspension engineered for ride comfort.
Could you work as a teacher’s aide for a while to sus out what it’s like to work at a school? (Although you might need a cert to do that - not sure)
Always regretted not taking a gap year. If you can manage it, do it. You may discover your life's passion who knows....
Probably meet a hell of a lot of new people that way....open doors etc
Teaching is really something you have to love to do.
You’ll often feel unappreciated and have to put in a lot of hours for meetings and after work meetings.
There’s also communications with parents as well and they aren’t always a nice thing to deal with.
Depending on where you work you may have to deal with dual curriculums and you’ll have even less time to teach.
Then there’s the dreaded report writing.
I think pay may have gotten better and it’s certainly an area where jobs are in demands at the moment.
I would say take a gap year if you're feeling a bit lost/overwhelmed because god knows it becomes much harder to do as you get older. And some of the people you meet/experiences you have may turn out to be pivotal to the rest of your life, even if you end up going in a different direction.
Still working for another hourrrrrrrr
Then you’ll be free I tell you, freeeeeee!
I have a big fat jaw-welding chunky peanut butter sammich and for some reason the cats INSIST i have something for them.
They've sniffed it and disregarded the sammich, but persist in demanding...something
Last vintage vinyl, made in 1973, was Rudy Vallee radio shows with various great stars of the 1920s and 30s.
Gershwin interview https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mEOQlyacEro
Huston singing September Song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=E3mAT-4FdP4
Insert Lego Batman "first try" meme....
I'll argue it was still his first try because he didn't stop trying
If I ever see an old vinyl from the soviet bloc I am sure to snap it up.
Today I was not disappointed. I got a 1968 Supraphon recording of Beethoven 1st and 8th symphonies from Czechoslovakia.
omg, it is awesome https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=19jqWhCv2o4
Similar but different, I bought the Suicide 2nd album on discogs and after it arrived I noticed it was made in West Germany. Still blows my mind that Germany was like that when I was a child.
I used to buy joke singles as gifts for an old friend of mine in high school, and I definitely recall buying a few Soviet Army Ensemble ones from the local Op shop 😆
I have all the albums. Not as a joke.
this is just amazing, what a voice, hear those balalaikas, and the song, it's Soviet Realist /Historic https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5wDai9s4Hmc
I also like the Pet Shop Boys https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=nYsVdGN_sW4
Hmm, do I get laneway tickets tomorrow or not? Really not vibing with the lineup but it's always a fun day out and festivals are my home...
