To be honest, the way Telegram does it is fine. I guess most of the users didn't need the feature anyway

Why can't we have simple messaging app built for privacy, with good call and video options? Maybe a few emojis would be cool as well.

You can even use stories in signal, though I turned it off in settings and have forgotten since launch that it exists until this post reminded me.

Telegram started that way but as they became so big, the process of Enshittification has now begin. It happens to all tech platforms that become too big.

Here is how platforms die: First, they are good to their users; then they abuse their users to make things better for their business customers; finally, they abuse those business customers to claw back all the value for themselves. Then, they die.

It's not that shitty yet, is it? The features they have paywalled seemed very niche

No its still good, I agree. But just worth being aware they are trying to appeal to content creators now.

It has become pretty famous and made the word Enshittification pretty known in some circles. It's the perfect description of what we see around us now.

Sounds like a business savvy approach. You'll see people who want to make content and promote themselves on the platform subscribing.

It's maybe a 1 month exclusive as I got a message stating that when I tried to upload a story

I don't use Instagram and I read both this article and the linked telegram article and I still didn't see what it is.

Is it some kind of a photo album with selfies?
