Mr Floof is 1 year old today. He loved the tuna cake, not a fan of the singing.

I think you're gonna have to share your chilli recipe now. Btw that looks amazing.

It’s all hand written with cryptic notes lol. If you really interested I can decipher it and send it later, I don’t mind. The secret ingredient is Kilkenny 😎

and by the way, you posted a link to a Hawawshi dish a few days ago which I will be attempting this week so thank you. Is there a sauce you recommend with that?

4
aussie.zone

We have it with hummus or toum (Aldi's garlic dip is very close to this) but you don't usually eat it with a sauce. Normally you'd eat them with tabbouleh.

Cucumbers, cherry tomatoes, gherkins go well with them.

Also when I make them I use mini lebanese bread but regular still works.

Oof.. nobody likes mushies in this house but me so they aren’t really a thing. Perhaps we could do a private mushroom party 🥳

Oh my goodness... I'm blushing.
It's been a long time since I've microwaved a potat, I'm not sure why... But it's time to get back on the horse

Ugh, sounds like a thoroughly shit person. May your paths never cross again. Sorry this happened to you.

5

Look up the phrase 'diamond pure' sometime. It's the technical term for dog shit that's turned white in the sun. Used to be used a lot for tanning fine leather for bookbinding and gloves. Back in my grandparents day kids could earn pocket money gathering it off the street and selling it to the tanneries. Those 'pure' t shirts still give me quiet giggles.

I love nothing more than to sit at a cafe watching as people go through their everyday things as I sip on a coffee.

LPT: Do not add 2tbps of "Da' Bomb Beyond Insanity" to a single fajita. My anus is currently trying to leave me to be with a better person.

I've tried praying and it hasn't helped. Should I listen to Lorde? Will that help?

5

Well haven't you been a busy little bee. I've had two shits and three cups of tea and I've just managed to put a load on.

5

I did mine yesterday however I’m procrastinating now.

3

Washing done but I need to tidy, vacuum and some life admin and am procrastinating.

3

I've run out of the medication I need to function and it was the last repeat.

Fuck. Fuck. Fuck. Fuck.

Have tried ringing the private hospital where my doctor works from but they can only send him a message.

Fuck.

If you've a regular pharmacist I've heard they can prescribe you a few days worth to tide you over until the doc sorts a repeat out.

Hi fellow ADHD person, you'll be fine it'll just be a bad day, it's not the end of the world. Coffee can help, but I know you'll need insane quantities to make that work and it'll write off your Monday. So today can be just a "nothing" day for you, go do your hyper focus pleasurable activities / have fun, and you must sort the meds first thing tomorrow.

6
aussie.zone

That's actually quite reassuring. I sorted it out but I have to say, I really wish there was some kind of cure for this. I'd take it in an instant.

Last time I ran out, I think about 2 years ago, I ended up sleeping for about 12 hours lol.

4

Lol @ 12 hours sleep, this isn't one upping it's just sharing a story: I once went to sleep (not bed) at 2:30-ish AM after being awake for a ridiculous number of hours and woke up and was super confused at it being 1am. I thought the clocks had gone back haha. Those missed calls and msgs... Priceless memories lol.

Glad you got your meds sorted but I'm intrigued that you would take a cure if one was available. I wouldn't as I think people wired like us can accidentally change the world 😂

But oh shit, I haven't finished the job I started outside and there's a box cutter sitting there. Should probably sort the groceries first though yah? When did I last pee? Ooo just had an amazing tech idea I should start! Feck, plants need watering. Yay, I did the recycling at some point. I should probably play a computer game. Why is my computer already on?

Is it? Counting is kinda of the point, but I only really pay attention to Solstices.

4

I've found that the equinox really kicks off growth in the garden. More than warm weather or wet weather does. I think its the tipping point where daylight hours overtake nighttime hours.

Love a manufacturing process video on YouTube sometimes.

Just watched one where the "QC PASSED" sticker went on the appliance before it was even fully assembled. Gotta love it.

I’m making friends with the maggies that come here, letting them see my face and dropping a few little treats.

Sometimes I throw a few pieces of high quality dry cat food (nutritionally complete, high protein and grain free). I had some dried mealworms but unsure where they are. Today I threw some small whole dried fish.

I don’t give bread or mince, being aware of calcium deficiencies or food getting stuck on beaks. And I don’t give it frequently or in excessive quantities

8

I too put out high quality complete cat crunchies if magpies come. 🙂

And since I put food out for the sparrows and doves last week nearly all the aphids in the terrace garden have been gonned.

5
aussie.zone

I think we need to readjust things a bit to fix that. I propose we all adjust our clocks so that sunrise is an hour later in the day. Who's with me?

5
aussie.zone

Just about everyone except Qld. How about we start this on 6th October? That gives us time to adjust the curtains so they don't fade.

6

I favour a dynamic approach where we adjust the clocks automatically every day to keep sunrise at the same time.

2
aussie.zone

Is it possibly to surgically remove the neighbours?

Four hours and counting of their bullshit

7

If only. We’d both be a lot happier.

…well there is a way but that’s frowned upon

3

I believe the method used by parts of the illegal tobacco industry to improve market share would be effective, but not socially responsible. It's hard to think of a socially responsible way to delete neighbours.

3

I understand, and have moments of that myself. It is worth it, there is love and sunshine and they cost nothing.

5

I feel that myself.

After spending years on an informal no-buy I’ve now started allowing myself an occasional treat or looking at affordable alternatives for getting what I need.

Plus reminding myself that I’m not completely destitute, that things are tight but I’m choosing not to eat into my savings.

But that’s such a mood.

2

I know it's very Melbourne-centric of me, but Grand Final week just isn't the same with two interstate teams. Even if we call them South Melbourne and Fitzroy.

7

Agree! I'll still have the g&t and the little boys out but it's not the same. I'm calling it the AFL state of origin match.

6

I’m still flat by what happened last night to my cats.

They were a bit fumbly and maybe nervous.

We squandered our chances as well despite the brilliance of Gryan Myers last night.

I’m sad again :(

4

Sounds like someone is ready for a bit of Melbourne Storm bandwagoning...

I once tried Aldi's version of Pure Blonde called Natural Blonde and it was not good. Instead of tipping the rest down the sink I used it as a rinse for my hair.

6

You can use it to trap snails, too

(Just don’t use your OH’s fave Cascade, it makes them grumpy)

That's my standard cheap beer. It's so charmingly bland. It has nothing going on.

3
aussie.zone

I found it weird tasting but alot of people buy it because I've seen them. 🤷‍♀️

3

It's often sold out at my Aldi. My friends love to complain about it but after their $24 4pk is done they want some of my $39 slab.

3

If anyone wants weed meet you in the maccas carpark at 10pm. Usual rate is $240 but today it's -$240 an oz I'll also throw in some Callistemon that fell down in the recent windy.

Dragging that fucker that fell over the neighbours' fence required patience.

You're also welcome to the upside down bucket.

6

Oooh gotta be careful of that Callistemon. Does your head in. Gateway drug for high intensity hakea addiction.

4

Last picture of the lonny dog beach fence :( That's all that's left was a good 500m back in the day it's about 4m now last few weeks was the nail in the coffin. God speed fence you didn't really serve a purpose but you existed.

6

There are, for me, 4 types of playing guitar:

  1. I want to try to write and record something
  2. I want to try some new ideas
  3. I'm just fucking around
  4. I need to create the sonic equivalent of smashing my head against a brick wall until the wall breaks.

Tonight was number 4. And it also generally lines up with "I need to get some shit out of my system".

6
aussie.zone

I get this. I don't have any advice but if all else fails just fuck around.. it'll come :)

3
aussie.zone

My upstairs neighbours have been carrying on with obscenities and threats of violence for about four hours

6

I’m familiar with the type. I’ve learned to be grateful when it’s not being directed at me, but sometimes you wish they’d just cut the crap and kill each other.

3

Are they directly above you? You could drill a small unobtrusive hole up through their floor and use it to fill their appartment with some sort of sleeping gas. Repeat every time they get too noisy. The closest thing you can get to an off switch for neighbours!

2

Dear PC gamers who work an office job:

Do you find it weird to be at a PC all day and then play PC games at home or is it just me?

4
Duenanreply
aussie.zone

I guess I never really thought much about it so it never really clicked with me that it was weird.

Maybe because work is work. Home is home.

4

That’s valid too.

If you’re getting monitor fatigue when you’re at home then you might need to mix it up a bit and be away from the computer screen for a little bit.

I’m going to try air frying burger Pattie’s and see if they turn out ok tonight.

Planning to make a burger with double cheese, double Pattie’s, bacon and hash browns.

4

I’m hoping it’ll work, means so much less cleaning up if it does work.

I make burgers with a kofta recipe. Lots of mixed spice, cumin, and fresh chopped coriander. Really delicious.

4

I’m going to be simple. Some Moroccan spices and pure mince.

1
aussie.zone

Made my burger and ate it.

Super messy affair. The bottom half of the burger bun literally disintegrated in my hands and had to turn it upside down just to keep it together.

Need to figure out how to stop it from disintegrating like that.

Also more cooking time needed for Patties. Maybe 2 more mins and higher temp.

4
aussie.zone

Lightly fry the cut side of the bun in a frying pan until toasted. With the patties, rest them on some paper towel to soak up any excess oils.

4
aussie.zone

What kind of bread was the bun? Brioche buns can be fragile and tear easy. Plain bread roll is sturdier. You could also start the layers with something non-juicy first, like lettuce leaf or cheese.

3

It was just a plain white burger bun.

I had a layer of hash brown but it wasn’t crispy and ended up more like mash potato in the end as well.

3
aussie.zone

Aaaand I'm home. I can confirm that the weather down here is factually worse than NSW.

4

I am not a mad K-pop fan, but hot damn Taemin’s Move does something to me every time I hear it.

Imma just be honest. Play all those hawt songs and I might not be responsible for my behaviour. Hahahahaha.

Tv Review. The Stand, series by Stephen King.

I found it tiresome.

But it was a really good retelling of Bible style stories, Daniel I think, that revelations stuff. Huge cataclysmic events, the world is changed , the story is about everyday people and their everyday lives and how special and important they are plus some true believers and supernatural stuff thrown in. There were no "heroes" per se. So for me it was an exercise in writing. I expect for true believin' Americans they would love that stuff.

2 hobbits. The scenery was pretty and it had some nice effects. - .5 hobbits for whoopi. She was for all the boomers who thought she was great in Ghost.

3

Dear God no. That's hideous! I look my age, I know it, and I don't really mind.

1
aussie.zone

I think there is less vaping since the bans. I don’t notice clouds of fruit flavoured smoke wafting around as much as I used to. I guess the ban is working? I had just assumed the illegal supply would fill the gap.

2

Reading this has made me annoyed sorry. Yes I vape and occasionally still smoke imported ciggies but wtf is the point of these laws other than to get people smoking darts again to rake in the insane tax?
