What's wrong with your house smelling like curry? It's delicious. Better than smelling of hamberders and old man farts.

Yeah, I can't even begin to imagine the smells Biden had to deal with right after moving in.

19

People are saying they had to use an industrial autoclave any of the furniture they didn't toss because of Donald's diaper leaks.

6

Seriously, if Trump isn't the biggest argument against American exceptionalism, I don't know what is. The fact that anybody could call the US "the greatest nation on Earth" after he was president is absurd.

6

I love the smell of good food when I'm hungry, not so much when I'm not.

10

Well the tweet is racist, but I don't want my house to smell like anything aside from when food is being served.

Or maybe she meant "I agree, but don't post that where EVERYONE can read it!"

86

Yeah, somehow I expect the "Jews have space lasers they use to start forest fires" lady aint a paragon of virtue here.

I'm going to need a source that MTG called out racism. That is some alternate dimension shit. The only reason I can think of is that maybe because the racism specifically was about Indians and JDs wife is Indian or she has a significant Indian population in her district. That is the only way this makes sense.

76

Right? It is like a hacktivist group took over her account to make her look sane and decent just for the lulz.

26

or she has a significant Indian population in her district.

I'm in her district. No, we don't have a significant Indian population here. It's 68% white, and another 25% split between black and hispanic.

Goddamn but I never thought I'd live to see this line. The line that is too far for her. I really hope I'd be dead by now. I don't want to live in a world where she's not the furthest most extreme crazy I can think of. Sometimes you live too long.

62
lemmy.world

The line that is too far for her.

It’s outside the Overton window right now, but get ready for it to be normal and mainstream in another five years.

17

Perhaps you have jumped parallel universes to a better, more sane one. I know I've jumped universes at least once. Unfortunately it was from a normal sane universe to this dumpster fire timeline.

3
lemmy.ca

It absolutely represents both Trump and MAGA.

What this is is MTG seeing the potential writing on the wall and slowly trying to sneak her way into more normal speak so she doesn't get fucking tossed out the door on her ass with the rest of them if Kamala wins and the "normal" republicans begin to purge their party of MAGA losers.

She's essentially thinking "I'd better start toning down my shit, just in case."

I predict a massive loss for the GOP, all the way down to dogcatcher. Imagine all the politically ignorant voters that will show out to vote against Trump and will mark D on all the races they know nothing about. Then there are those of us who are politically aware and are marking straight D's, because fuck all this nonsense.

You are spot on about the coming purges. Blood. Bath.

5

I predict a massive loss for the GOP, all the way down to dogcatcher

I hope so. If there is a god, the one I want to see lose the most is Ted Cruz. I'm so sick of his smug face. He gives the rest of us Canadians a bad name. We're sorry we sent him to you.

11
lemmy.world

Yeah, an intern was told make a statement condemning the tweet, as it is just a little too overtly racist

15
sh.itjust.works

"Hey Laura can you tweet something absolutely insanely racist about Kamala so I can publicly call you out so that people won't think im the crazy one?"

"Sure thing fam I was probably gonna do that anyways lol"

33

Trump mentioned her as a potential White House press secretary, which of course is horrifying.

5

If you're a racist it's occasionally useful to throw another, more obvious racist under the bus to build up your own cover.

Fuck both these people.

33

the White House will smell like curry

Like, the whole building? The entire 55000 square foot structure including meeting rooms, studios, gardens, sex dungeons, document store rooms, janitor’s closets, tailor suites, all of it?

29
lemmy.world

The moment Kamala enters the white house, a 400 foot energy field envelops the entire building. Normal people would be shocked, perhaps even a little afraid, but this is Washington. A curious bystander sniffs the air outside. My god. It's curry.

25

The staff can play "is it curry" when everything in the white house is transmuted into curry

15

They connect to pizza restaurant basements where Hillary Clinton traffics children.

Kinda sounds awesome, not gonna lie. Who doesn't like the smell of curry?

Unrelated, you're a dick - I spent a good minute or so wondering when we started federating with Threads.

Wow, not american but i've heard so much shit on MTG, and to think even MTG and MAGA trying to hit the brake, am surprised.

The thing about the far right is it tends to get out of control and ends up eating its own. Politicians give it momentum and by the time they want to put the brakes on, it's no longer theirs to stop.

30

It’s the political extremism ouroboros - any political ideology that is based upon hate inevitably ends up eating itself as they need to keep inventing things to hate and eventually turn inwards. I love to see it.

2
lemm.ee

Probably trying to do damage control after the debate. She's a pawn for don cheeto, nothing more.

21

Yeah, seeing trump trying to distance himself from project 2025, kinda telling they're now changing their non-existing facade.

9

I'm pretty sure this is exactly it. If Trump were killing it to the point they knew no matter what he would win she more than likely wouldn't have said anything.

2

I know a guy called Bob who bought a monkey, from the FreeAds, back in the early eighties…

1

Considering that Trump and Loomer were chilling together before and after the debate, I'm pretty sure that they share a lot in common.

26
lemmy.world

I was going to say I agree with her but I realized I can't.

She is right it is racist but it is certainly not above Republicans nor Trump to be openly racist.

18

Even in her admonishments to other people, she sets aside a little time to kiss Trump's ass and make sure he knows she loves him. Get your own fucking identity, weirdo!

16

I"t does not represent THE THINGS WE SAY OUT LOUD AND ON THE RECORD, except for when it does because we actually do that more often now"

-marge green's first draft

16

MTG has said way more racist things than this, she's just mad that she wasn't getting attention

15

Frantic incoherent racism doesn't represent MAGA, ma'am? We are left wondering. We are quite deprived of mundane reality.

Does it represent the demonic pact our country's most credulous goons have made with its most depraved billionaires?

Does it represent an entire nation haunted by Andrew Johnson's cursed spirit, kept from rest by the failed reconstruction?

Once you have eliminated the only credible possibility, madam, all that is left is melodramatic phantasmagoria.

15

Idk, Trump eats his steak well done w/ ketchup, so I wouldn't be surprised if the food he likes is incredibly bland compared to what Kamala Harris likes. I'm guessing she's also a fan of jerk and other Carribean foods, since her dad is Jamaican, so I'd much rather attend a dinner hosted by Harris than Trump.

Also, if liking curry is a bad thing, then what does that mean for Vivek Ramiswamy? It seems he's trying to place himself as the successor to Trump.

So yeah, not sure how this was intended to be offensive. Curry is delicious, and Indian people rock (I work with several). And with Trump, I need a translator to understand what he's trying to say anyway since he rambles so much and can't seem to stick to any particular position.

14
lemm.ee

I don't think anyone would be upset if the white house smelled like curry. That would be a nice atmosphere. But what's racist about the rest of it? I think this all went over my head.

-2

It's preying on the fact that a lot of call centers were offshored to India and other countries. That resonates well with their voting bloc

Am i illiterate?

Is there meaning to those sentences?

I can see the racism in curry but honestly how is that still a thing. The rest is word salad about support services?

I know the name of the blond lady though, shes a racist and not worth reading what they said.

-15
lemmy.world

"Kamala Indian, so Indian stereotypes about curry and customer service."

Maybe you are illiterate, I don't know.

24
sopuli.xyz

Maybe i live in the future but i don’t see how i would know that shes has indian heritage. Admittedly as an autist i generally appear blind for deducting orgins based on genetics. Its just one of those weird things other people do.

Neither do i associate curry or callcenters with nationality or race. Neither do i perceive them as bad.

Til that curry originated in india, cool historical fact i guess. Would have guessed japan.

We have a callcenter at my job, tons of stuff could be improved towards clear communication and the general customer experience.

Maybe i squint really hard i can see what there going for but its so pitty and oldfashioned my brain just cant accept it as an actual stance.

This post is in reflection a waste of our time, neither of those people seem capable for reason.

"Maybe I live in the future..."

Damn Trump must've won then if future people are somehow more ignorant.

4

You must have the wrong idea of exactly how much i loath supremist ideology.

Fascist like Trump are not capable of reason and should not be able to reach so many vulnerable people.

Everytime we share a post about these non humans or someone hands them a mic, a website doesn’t ban them, we give them power.

My post aren't different in sentiment from those calling republicans “weird” i just have a more convoluted way of expressing that weirdness they emit and genuinely do not understand the obsession about people origins or genitals. Its 2024, free travel has existed for a while now. Your skin color says literally nothing anymore except in the sick mind if some broken people who are not worth sharing their opinion by others.

In the end these people did not even care about how rational they sound, they just wanted to cause some hurt.

I am pretty sure Kamala slept on both ears or possibly even laughed at seeing this nonsense,

In the meantime, we, clearly both leftists at hearth. Have been infighting.. for what reason exactly? What caused this anger? The nonsensical tweet of a racist did, like some magic spell.

Thats what i am trying to go against. I no longer want to give them the power of us assuming there words have a value or meaning.

I assumed people would be able to perceive that meaning from my words but alas.

Sorry to anyone i may have confused.

You don't need to deduct anything. It's a commonly-known fact about Harris, especially since Donald Trump made a point to bring her race up. The media has been talking about it quite a bit.

Til that curry originated in india, cool historical fact i guess. Would have guessed japan.

LOL. "Curry comes from India" is not some obscure factoid. This is even more commonly known.

There's no shame in being ignorant of something that's common knowledge, but you're being weirdly defensive like people are expecting you to know some arcane trivia, and that's not the case.

1

I just feel like people are tackling my perspective on nationality rather than the point i am trying to make. I also don’t really follow the media that closely because the issues i observe in life are rarely mentioned.

But to be fair i have a godawefull week and probably carry an unhealthy amount bad vibes these days: https://larahogan.me/blog/be-a-thermostat-not-a-thermometer
