Good news! Elder Minipeeler got accepted into the school we applied for! I started crying with gratitude on the phone, and when I went back into the kitchen I burst out into this huge sobbing like I rarely have before, that wracked my whole body, and everyone was most alarmed by me sobbing and smiling. I didn't realise how much tension I was holding in my body until it all came rushing out, and now after a hard day's work I'm utterly exhausted!

I just want to get it all submitted and passed before Thursday next week, so I don't have to go to class until next semester lol. If I can get all the assessments done and submitted before the due date, then I have more time to amend any feedback/mistakes, and way more time to chill.
Get onto it now dude, so you don't have to worry later; 4 weeks goes by really quickly when you're at school.
My daughter is off to an awards night for short stories at the local library. Her friend submitted a short story which my daughter edited. Good luck B.
King Island Dairy is closing next year. No more amazing triple cream brie and smoked cheddar. And 60 people losing jobs in a small community. Devastating.
I bought the brie and cream on very special occasions. Saputo, a Canadian based multinational company which expanded via mergers and acquisitions, can't find a buyer.
So sad. Love their brie. I guess I’ll just have to over indulge while it’s still available. It seems like it should be a profitable business? Surely there’s a cheese loving millionaire that wants to buy it? Don’t they want to save their cheese platters? Do it for the good of the nation!
I am SO cheesed off with airlines only offering PayID as a fee free method of payment - it's fucked because some banks will always place a temporary hold on payments to new payees - and then the booking gets cancelled! Fuck sake! And then you have to be out of pocket TWICE to try and pay again, meanwhile you have the initial payment floating around god knows where and no guarantee of when it will be returned. So fucking stressed out.
Years ago my sister and I were walking through a shopping centre, her with her Swans Guernsey, me in my North Guernsey for the finals, the amount of people going Go Swanies Go North absolutely heart warming. I get it!
Plans to do a stack of laundry and give the place a bloody good tidying have been foiled after the tireds hit after an Aldi run.
Just crawled in next to Sammi (who's going well) for a nana nap.
I’ve decided to go another course of antibiotics while we sort the cat specialist, so I get to wrestle Melbcat and feed her gross banana flavoured liquid for another 10 days! 🍌 Some keeps ending up on her fur so I think I will be buying a bib.
The specialist I saw seemed ok, not sure if he’ll be able to help but was at least respectful and willing to listen.
The lightly scented home brand soap I bought is a bit drying on my hands but otherwise hasn’t caused immediate issues? That’s not to say it won’t. But if it works out I have a backup soap for any supply shortages of the unscented bars.
If it doesn’t I guess it gets donated to the food pantry minus that bar or turned into laundry soap.
Whoever thought banana flavoured antibiotics are appropriate for a cat is nuts! Surely it should be sardine flavoured or milk flavoured or something cats like.
Ugh, poor Melbcat! I think banana flavoured liquid deserves a special place in hell 😝 I've turned hand/face soap into laundry soap with positive results. I bought some Dove soap a while back but wasn't happy with it (ain't what it used to be) but found it to be excellent for my towels. Made them softer than my face lol.
I have signed up to do a physical activity study. I don't know whether I'm hoping to be in the activity group where I have to use a fitness tracker and app for 6 months or the control group, where I get to make no changes but feel no guilt because it is "for science" and not laziness 🤣
It did inspire me to work out how to fix my scales that somehow got changed to pounds instead of kg. Now I just need to work out how to fix the thermometer that changed to Farenheit when I replaced the battery and I'll have pulled my bathroom out of the weird American vortex it got sucked into.
Despite having needle like claws Miss Meow is not very good at sewing. She keeps trying to help, which mostly involves sitting on any fabric I am working with, throwing cotton onto the floor and trying to walk on the sewing machine while I am using it.
I have been researching online to find options to bind a book I am making. I have decided a combination of bamboo skewers, string and a stick of some type will be utilized. Tomorrow is going to be an intersting arts and crafts day, in which I either put together a glorious creation or a weird looking mess.
Eye primer report: Nude by Nature was a big let down. Not even 2 hrs and already oily and creased. The application had a very silicone feel so I was already skeptical.
The Barry M Lid Lock seems to be performing well. 5 hrs last night with the tiniest hint of creasing, but only if you really nitpicked and didn’t look oily or ready to really crease. That was an evening wear.
I am into almost 5 hrs of day wear and it seems to be holding up similarly.
I’m not crazy oily, but enough that eyeshadow without primer or even with foundation powder base would oil up in a couple of hours. This is why Urban Decay is so good. I used to be a little hit and miss with it when I realised that I wasn’t applying enough. Even if it’s anecdotal, the fact that my eyeshadow lasted all day in 30+ degrees in Cambodia with humidity while my face oil/sweat did its worst is a real testament to how good it is (on me anyway).
UD is just stupid pricey and I think the formula has changed like some people have mentioned, it seems to dry out and cake a lot faster in the tube. Sad.
I thought it wouldn't take long to make some patchwork cushions. I'm 6 hours in. 🤯 Looks like I'll be working on them the next few evenings. Handcrafts take so long.
I guess it was my love of their music, and the fact that I was so excited to see them at the time, and then they just hit the ball right out of the park on the night. I also had to queue up, sometimes overnight in the rain, for tickets, so it made it even more satisfying on the night when they put on a great show....
Been to heaps of others over the years. Flaming Lips next year will be my first in a few years. I think the last one was Tool.
It was just absolutely amazing and so so so much fun. At one point I needed a bit of space so I went to the back and had a bit of a stretch out on the ground. I was looking up at the tent ceiling and into my vision appeared an old family friend I hadn't seen in something like 10 years....is that you calhoon2005? Holy shit, Tom!?!.... Had the best chat ever. Fun times.
The amateur theatre was brilliant. At the show I went to, he played a second set of hits for another 2 hours after the Greendale set. Came back on stage after the break and opened with a 12 minute solo into Like A Hurricane ....was awesome
It was a great show. I watched maiden back in 2016 and this was just as good as I remember.
Bruce's singing is still great. They played more stuff off the new album and Somewhere in Time. Not a lot from Number/Piece/Powerslave.
The new albums may not be as good asthe classics, but they have more instrumental sections, which makes sense since they have 3 guitarists now. It's great to watch them live just jamming out on stage because everything is so tight and it all flows so smoothly.
Really, you don't get to fill Rod Laver without putting on a great show. And maiden still hold up in that regard
This is going to date me even more. Back in the early 70s was at the Troubador in Carlton one night with friends for quite another act, and who should walk in the door but Glen Campbell. He asked mgt if he could do a couple of tunes in the interval between sets. Man that guy could play, even on a borrowed guitar. Was a fantastic night. Mr Campbell ended up playing audience requests and works in progress. Audience maybe 20 people????? and they had to kick us all out at 3 am cos we'd overstayed their licence by enough hours to get the mgt in real trouble. And we were all hoarse from singing along. And he came with us to Stalactites afterwards for pizza. Nicest bloke imaginable.
Rage against the machine - threw my hat at the stage and Zach re la Rocha wore it for a bit before giving it back to me. Gave it Security and singled me out as the owner
Pearl Jam - cause it was pearl jam
Paul McCartney - cause he's Paul McCartney
Rolling Stones - cause I won tickets and there were 500 people in the audience
Difficult call between Cyndi Lauper She Bop anniversary, and Flogging Molly. Neither are my utter favourite artist but the way they ran the shows was amazing. Whole experience rather than just seeing songs.
I have multiple excellent memories of both single gigs and festivals: Faith No More, The Cure, The Tea Party, The National, Placebo, Portishead, Iron Maiden, Portishead, Korn, SoaD etc. Even Def Leppard hahahaha.
Buuutt… One of my most memorable has to be Tori Amos at Hamer Hall. More so because I wasn’t a mad fan. I can’t remember what song it was but I had this a weird emotional reponse. Like all the music poured in me and the emotion wanted to pour out…
It’s weird to describe… An emotional orgasm, perhaps? 🤣
It was amazing through.
I have to say hearing your favourite songs by any band you love never gets old.
I need to source a single good sized round rock (to paint up as a pet) my usual walks to work etc aren’t passing any gardens with such to steal. Cunning thoughts?
Try local creek beds. Merri Creek has a good few in the shallows all along its length. The creek bed below Rushall Station has a gully leading up towards the station and could be a good source. Also the creek below Ceres. Also railway lines - the Mernda line north of Croxton has lots of rocks lying around the siding. They're blue metal - like the sleepers are bedded into. Dunno if such would be pet friendly.
Please don't go out to the rock fences in the north - these are valuable reptile habitat and the local herpetologists will burn you in effigy if you nick any rocks from those fences.
You could take a day trip to somewhere like the gold fields region, or surf coast. Lots of rocks to be found on bush walks, beachside, or even just side of the road. Depends what colour or if you want craggy or smooth.
I found an original LP of the Lawrence of Arabia movie score. It's a bit crackly but that's because it's been in a bad record sleeve. I have a huge supply of special sleeves now and all my LPs are carefully cleaned, the sleeves replaced and the cardboard cover cleaned and repaired if need be. The humidity of the room is still a bit low tho, that cause crackle too so I must water the pot plant.
Not really. Most crackly playing isn't usually about the record per se but about static caused by the atmospheric conditions and ionisation of the LP by the sleeve.
🤣
I recently found a Sri Lankan place in a food hall near my new work and I've been there three times this week! The goat was my fav so far, it was a bit like a vindaloo - they also have a yummy eggplant dish
I love goat! An Indian joint near me does great curries with it, just need to be careful because it’s bone in, and very randomly cut. All sorts of pointy bits you do not want to swallow!
I have wanted one for ages -just need a bit of flexible seating for the apartment. But I don't really like the super synthetic material+polystyrene options and if I search for anything "eco friendly" I am looking at hundreds of dollars... Not keen on second hand (and I tend to keep things for YEARS).
Many years go, when beanbags were first popular back in the 70s, I made one from corduroy. Lasted for quite a few years and was very comfortable. Would recommend getting a cheapie of the right shape from Kmart, ripping it along the seams and use the pieces for a pattern. Interior slightly smaller bag to hold the beans recommended. Then the outer bag can be washed as required. Linen for the outer bag would be nice, and very durable.
Worth it to have complete choice of materials. Was actually quite easy to sew - lots of long straight seams. Would recommend putting the zip in first before sewing up the big pieces. Basic design was a largish hexagon with the zip in it, then six large trapezoids and small hexagon on top. Bound to be a yt video on the topic somewhere. Here's one - that uses foam blocks not those horrible little beans. Pumpkin style Could use thrifted material too.

I have news.
Milo the guide pup is all grown up. He's passed all his testing with flying colours - best of his litter - and there's a person waiting for him
Good boy Milo. Good job.
Awww. I love black labs.
Good boy Milo!
Is there a picture so we can see just how good he is?
He grew up
What a handsome doggo.
He started out like this. It's amazing what four breakfasts a day will do
Must have hobbit dna in his genome.
Aww, what a good boy indeed.
The girls got 3rd place out of 200 entries! So proud! Onya B! Onya girls!
Yay girls!
I'm so proud I'm crying 😢
That’s awesome! Congratulations to them!
On the podium!
Fuck yeah!
Woo! That's an awesome achievement, well done!

You’re smashing it! I’m so proud of you!
My daughter is off to an awards night for short stories at the local library. Her friend submitted a short story which my daughter edited. Good luck B.

Cracker of a morning. Still windy, pretty warm.
The sun's nice up here as well, if a bit windy. You can tell the weather's going to take a turn later
King Island Dairy is closing next year. No more amazing triple cream brie and smoked cheddar. And 60 people losing jobs in a small community. Devastating.
Definitely a loss...but their prices were pretty out there. I want to support local businesses, but can't justify the costs most times.
Triple cream brie is the goat and I'm sad 😔
I bought the brie and cream on very special occasions. Saputo, a Canadian based multinational company which expanded via mergers and acquisitions, can't find a buyer.
What?! No!
So sad. Love their brie. I guess I’ll just have to over indulge while it’s still available. It seems like it should be a profitable business? Surely there’s a cheese loving millionaire that wants to buy it? Don’t they want to save their cheese platters? Do it for the good of the nation!

Cheers friendly Aussie Zoners. 🍺
It's been a high achievement day for me. Knocked a few job applications out this morning then got day drunk and had a nap.
Good luck 🍺
My drinks trolley just came around at work - cheers!
That’s hot
🍺
What's on the menu?
Cider, Asahi (alcoholic and non), Prosecco, rosé, red and white. I got an Asahi!
Weather has thrown me around for a 6 today.
Hopefully it’s not too all over the place this weekend.
Warning: AFL nuffie talk
Had some really nice heartwarming moments today from parents who gave me lots of encouragements about Geelong on their match last night.
I wear my team scarf and beanie almost everyday and they know much it meant to me when I showed up super happy.
I know it’s not for everyone but it’s one of simple things that makes me happy. I hope we can go all the way this year.
Years ago my sister and I were walking through a shopping centre, her with her Swans Guernsey, me in my North Guernsey for the finals, the amount of people going Go Swanies Go North absolutely heart warming. I get it!
Go Cats.
Love when my watch congratulates me for moving after a long period, but all I was doing was scratching my head in confusion at a stupid email.
Yes. I like it when it congratulates me on going to the letterbox or dunny. Well done me.
No worries Baku. I'll take a pic and I'll buzz you tomorrow morning 💩
"congrats your period was 8 days this month and you still moved after!"
Simpsons as a family is a horror show for me. Homer is an extreme violent child abuser against Bart. ☹️
I know how you feel in regards to missing out. It gets better.
Oooooo juicy ☕
Greetings fellow citizens.
Be well and stay well.
and dont get blown away again.
Good for drying heavy fabric garments outdoors though
What's your boggle?
Taco Bell for dinner?
I spoke to an actual friendly helpful person at the ATO today. Any other minor Friday miracles out there?
Yes, Today I found an album I'd been looking for for years. 🙂
Oh that's a massive win!
I know ...😹
and, it's really great
Plans to do a stack of laundry and give the place a bloody good tidying have been foiled after the tireds hit after an Aldi run.

Whoever thought banana flavoured antibiotics are appropriate for a cat is nuts! Surely it should be sardine flavoured or milk flavoured or something cats like.
I don’t know the logic… there are fish and chicken flavours but perhaps some animals like banana??
Edit: apparently a lot of animal meds were made for humans and given in different doses
Yeah the Dove is good on my hair, too mild on my body and drying on my face.
so many hugs for you both
It worked, I wore a rain coat and it didn't rain. 😹
Thankyou for your contribution for science!
Catfish! If up before the Bin Men counts.
Despite having needle like claws Miss Meow is not very good at sewing. She keeps trying to help, which mostly involves sitting on any fabric I am working with, throwing cotton onto the floor and trying to walk on the sewing machine while I am using it.
Mine like pulling pins out of things, and the sitting exactly the most unhelpful spot always.
Prime example
That’s a lovely floompf
Man, such beautiful cats 😍😍😍😍
I think they’re programmed to sit on things of the opposite colour, too (particularly the thing you wanted to wear to work that day)
Yeah… 98% of my wardrobe is black. Adopting a white cat probably wasn’t my most logical decision.
I went for a white dog and a black cat, just to make sure anything I wear will have visible hair.
A White & a Tortie pretty much covered the available spectrum. 🖤
White and black here, she’s got me covered 🤍🖤
🐈
🥓
✋
It’s still possible to get around that style of lock.
Ughh. Fingers crossed you leave these clowns and soar.
Worth opening your windows and stuff gang. its amazing outside. Windy AF, but amazing. Get that fresh air before the rain his later.
Looks like the weather's about to get oogie boogie up here. The sky is dark but the wind has gone
My Jerboa is being naughty this morning, won't even open, so I'm on my DDG browser. Everything looks odd lol
I have been researching online to find options to bind a book I am making. I have decided a combination of bamboo skewers, string and a stick of some type will be utilized. Tomorrow is going to be an intersting arts and crafts day, in which I either put together a glorious creation or a weird looking mess.

Ooh! Please keep updating. I need a new ethical non itchy make up source as Body Shop has gone to shit!
I’m not doing anything energetic so I don’t think I’m putting it to enough of a test, but it’s 10.47pm my eye shadow still hasn’t budged!
That's a shame about UD. I gave up on eye makeup during lockdown but it was always my go-to for eye and lips. I dunno what's the go anymore
do I take my raincoat is the big question today
If you do, the worst that'll happen is you've carried around an extra bit of weight. How much do you not want to get wet?
I think I'll take it as it's also a good wind breaker. 👍🏼
depends how long you're out for today and where you're going.
For some reason, Horny Metal is absolutely what I needed to smash out this spreadsheet.
What bands fall under the Horny Metal genre?
For research purposes...
I think Def Leopard does. e: maybe Whitesnake too... Hair Metal
Like, is Steel Panther too on the nose and obvious. Or is it more bands people describe as sexy like Deftones?
In this instance it was electric callboy.
I thought it wouldn't take long to make some patchwork cushions. I'm 6 hours in. 🤯 Looks like I'll be working on them the next few evenings. Handcrafts take so long.
You're not tempted? 😹
I’d be concerned about what kind of meat… 🧍
What's the best concert you've ever been to?
Oh man....so many incredible shows....
Pearl Jam in 95 over the fence at the Myer Music Bowl
Radiohead at Festival Hall touring Ok Computer
Funkadelic at Byron whilst on acid
Rage Against the Machine at BDO
The National at the Palais front row
Local Natives at the Corner
Glen Hansard with the Frames at the Recital Centre
Neil Young at Myer Music Bowl touring Greendale, centre 3 rows back
Flaming Lips at Festival Hall in 2005..... I got a ticket for 2025 baby!
Speaking of LSD, I once made an attempt at seeing the Grateful Dead.
We got to the venue, this much is certain. After that is Gods own private mystery.
Right on man. No doubt you all had a great time.
I’m sure I did. That’s what they tell me anyway.
I saw the Greendale tour in Canada a few months before moving here....so so good
The amateur theatre was brilliant. At the show I went to, he played a second set of hits for another 2 hours after the Greendale set. Came back on stage after the break and opened with a 12 minute solo into Like A Hurricane ....was awesome
That's a hard one. I'm lucky so many of the shows I've been to have been good.
I'm in the crowd for Iron Maiden at the moment and last time I saw them they were great as well
Oh nice. Please report back later with review if possible.
It was a great show. I watched maiden back in 2016 and this was just as good as I remember.
Bruce's singing is still great. They played more stuff off the new album and Somewhere in Time. Not a lot from Number/Piece/Powerslave.

Somewhere in Time is hands down my fave album of theirs. So awesome! Thanks for that!
They're playing again tonight if tickets are available and you're keen on checking them out

Too many shows to have a fave. Each one has little stories that I can’t really put above all. What about you?
Does Fat Freddys Drop in the back yard of Pure Pop Records in St Kilda count?
Difficult call between Cyndi Lauper She Bop anniversary, and Flogging Molly. Neither are my utter favourite artist but the way they ran the shows was amazing. Whole experience rather than just seeing songs.
Oh and a highly honourable mention to what I believe was the second last ever Prodigy show.
Oooh. Watsky because it was a kickass experience. One Republic because I love the band. The Killers because they put on a helluva show.
Toss up between seeing Cotton, Keyes, and Morris in the 2000s singing all their hits and dancing with the audience.
And Montaigne at the Croxton on her Complex album tour.
Edit: I did see Pink in the 2000s as well for her Funhouse tour I think, at Rod Laver
So many good ones listed here.
I have multiple excellent memories of both single gigs and festivals: Faith No More, The Cure, The Tea Party, The National, Placebo, Portishead, Iron Maiden, Portishead, Korn, SoaD etc. Even Def Leppard hahahaha.

Any other tips for cleaning crackly records? I bought a cheap second hand Six Wives of King Henry The Eighth and it's very crackly.
Not really. Most crackly playing isn't usually about the record per se but about static caused by the atmospheric conditions and ionisation of the LP by the sleeve.

Sri Lankan goat curry
I have a bunch of goat in the freezer and now I'm furiously searching sri lankan goat curry recipes.
This is Ceylon Wok, isn't it
Negative. It's called Cinnamon's
Ooooh another joint to check out.

Give me your favourite 2Pac song please?

Hey who ate the other half of the castello blue.. it wasn't me I thought we were all doing the no snacking.
I just ate 6 cashews. Otherwise I'm doing really well. ( I'm starving half the day )
Can anyone recommend a decent bean bag?
Yes I have been thinking about this. I am completely useless with a sewing machine but maybe I could convince a mate to help....
Awesome. Thanks
Linkin Park is back with a new vocal and a full concert and she is good.

Do the emoji in the thread name stand for something? They seem to be different every time I've seen them.
