Loads of oddball relatives out there as well. I haven't seen this one due to the range being restricted to the west coast (US), but it's completely absurd (Allotropa virgata).

Seems to be a Monotropa. Common names include: Ghost Plants, Indian Pipe, Corpse Plants. It is vascular.
Google says ghost plant, but I'm not sure.
Ghost pipes. I used to think they were a fungus.
It looks soo cool. Never seen something like it before.
