Cities with military bases always pull this bullshit with soldiers cars. The cities generally depend on the bases as a large employer/customer base, but they know they can fuck with the endless 20yr olds that show up each year. I'm entirely unsurprised they were illegally towing/repoing cars.
As another example, parking enforcement around military bases is hilariously over enforced. Dont park illegally near a base, as they will come give you new ticket after new ticket the minute they are allowed to. I once got in a pinch and parked in a 2hr zone for 4 hrs and 10 minutes, and came back to 2 tickets, 2hrs and 2 min apart.
Illegal towing is just business as usual throughout all of Texas.
That's only like $1000-1500 per car. Should be 10x that.
That was my thought too. Full restitution of stolen property and then a fine to the teach them a lesson.
