They are so afraid of the detrimental effects of all these strikes but they won't stop for a second to consider why the strikes happen and how treating workers better could prevent them.

Exactly. Not a single person has said “maybe they should work harder”. You know why? Because they already work really hard.
The conversation needs to be “if they’re really that important, they need to be compensated as being really that important.
