Wait - the guy who writes books is good at writing assignments? Who could have predicted this plot twist?

9

I'm actually terrible at writing assignments (I'm about a 70-75 average student), but this was a video assignment so even worse.

So now that you know you're good at video, time for some TV/movie adaptations? =)

I am very much happy with the passes gets degrees theory, but worry I am not actually good, just competent enough to do whats needed for that particular subject without retaining it long term.

I get what you’re saying, was just thinking 76 odd is still Distinction area.

I wonder many people actually use the information from their degree vs what they on the job.

2

I'm looking to eventually get a job as a TA so I can get on the job training while I finish my degree because I feel like if I went into a teaching job now, I'd be crap at it.

I just saw you have a cold - brandy will definitely help with that

Rejected for a job because I was basically too good (?), but they've invited me to apply for a more senior role coming up next month. Not really sure what to do with this information.

14
TinyBreakreply
aussie.zone

at which point they'll tell you that you don't have enough experience for the senior role. Why? Cause they're fuckers.

Least thats my experience.

10

The more senior role is very similar to my last job, but yep, every chance there'll be another amazing candidate so I'm certainly not holding my breath.

4

It's great they offered to put you forward for another position. I've had that excuse and no one knows what to do, like 'so you don't want to employ competent people?'

2

On the train last night some guy kept sneezing next to me without covering his mouth and now I'm sick.

I went to the office and let my manager know and she said to go home. Which was really nice.

Teams meetings all day tomorrow anyway, just didn't want to be away from work. The difference between sectors is dramatic.

I got up and walked away from someone on the ferry who kept coughing wetly. I can only hope she was recovering from something, but I was not taking the risk.

9

I still see far too much of this in public, and it makes me mad, especially as someone who hasn't been able to work for the past week from covid. Some people either learnt nothing from the last few years or simply don't give a damn and it shows.

8

Fkn ferals! Crawling all over the trains and trams, coughing and snuffling, wiping their faces with their hands and smearing it everywhere like angry monkeys throwing their shit.

Why don't the Geneva Conventions on Biological Warfare extend to the common disease-ridden citizen?

Don't even get me started on buses.

7

I hope it’s only because I had a bad sleep.

Hope I haven’t caught covid or something.

We also have someone who does that in meetings, often when they’re wrapping up. It’s all I can do not to scream STOP. TALKING. NOW!!

3

yeah Im glad I was on mute cause I groaned out loud. they just dialed me in to have a chat whilst they were working on something and I had to go "Guys, I delivered this yes, But its now with another team. if the other team hasnt read the documentation go to their manager. I aint doing their work for them!"

3

I know right? It's really going slowly and I feel like crap today.

I care so little for US politics and I am already tired of hearing about that train wreck, despite actively avoiding it. I can't escape it I figured it must be close to the election so I googled it.

We got another 3 months of this.

12

I was absolutely here prior to "the change" and now I'm all here for it. It went from "good guys gonna get smashed" to "Holy shit good guys are gonna win and bad guys gonna get their asses kicked". Love a come from behind story.

7

I loved the Olympics even more because of this. 2 weeks of barely hearing about it was bliss.

Miniest testing negative for covid πŸ’ͺ🏼 my test still very faintly positive. Mr P's test still strongly positive and he is spewin' about it. The first to get it and spread it to us is still positive, he really thought he'd be in the clear by now. But he's the oldest and a smoker, which I think must be a factor in his slow recovery? Ran out of tests so will have to test Elder when the ones I ordered arrive this arvo.

Edit: Elder minipeeler has tested negative! I'm sooo relieved!

11
aussie.zone

There was some silly article years ago about how being a smoker (tobacco or weed) could help against covid.

I called bullshit and I'm pretty sure it's been disproven too lol. Guarantee you his smoking is prolly why it's harder for him to get over it (as a flip-flopping quitter)

5

Given Mr Peeler kept walking through the living room for a ciggie, in this case it sounds like it wasn't the smoker who got sicker β€” it was everyone else!

Anyways, fantastic news that you're all starting to recover 😊

Shout out to my goodest girl: the Staffy X Kelpie. I'm trying a new walking technique to reduce the pulling cause its all gotten a bit shit since kiddo joined us. She was always the better of the 2 dogs but with the new technique she had it dialed in within like 5 minutes. She was a nightmare on a lead when we got her so to see the progress she has made was just been awesome.

The other dog we wont be talking about here.

9

I don’t know much about dogs. But I saw a harness where the leash attached at the front of the dog’s chest. Maybe that was to turn them back around or to the side each time they raced ahead of the owner/pulled. Kind of as discouragement or to make it harder to act up.

Is that a thing?

Edit: Seems it is.

It’s called a front clip harness

I've caught the today-is-dragging-itis bug. Far out I'm soooo done for the day. Bleurgh. I have to do a stupid employee goals thing too. urrrghghvbggvbfgj

Also really sleepy as I was up late helping a mate with their job application. It was actually my dream job, but I'm not in a position to have such a big change right now... and I think this person is a better candidate anyway. Certainly makes me think of where I could be in the future though

9
mysticgregreply
aussie.zone

Oh man, employee goals crap is the worst. I used to take them seriously, but after a decade at my current employer they've proven that they're not worth a damn. NOBODY here takes them seriously any more, even my manager acknowledges it's all worthless and any goals or aspirations or training plans or targets will be ignored by the powers that be anyway. It's just a box ticking exercise here.

Also, what a great friend you are to have that kind of attitude and put that effort in helping someone get YOUR dream job! I just hope you don't sell yourself short, make sure you shoot for something similar when the timing IS right!

Now I believe it's time to will this clock into turning faster so that I can go home...

5

Lol, turns out even my supervisor has no idea there were these employee goal things so it really is a total box ticking exercise...

Aw thanks, that's really nice of you re: job. It's just been bad timing that this job was advertised when it was. I absolutely can't sacrifice my last shot at finishing this degree (would need to start redoing subjects otherwise) and I know I simply can't handle the chaos of transitioning jobs moving forward. I like that my existing jobs are somewhat braindead which leaves me more space to work with uni, life, etc. Whereas I'd be burning the candle at both ends wanting to put in 110% at the job while also finishing uni. I also needed some down time professionally after my last job.

I'll definitely be putting in for jobs like that once I wrap up uni mid next year!

I struggled to get home this afternoon. I kept wanting to fall asleep as I was driving home.

Made it home through had a wash then flopped on my bed and fell asleep until now.

I think my blanket last night was too warm for me so I’m going to change it out for a few days as it’s been warmer.

Anyway making some garlic bread now.

maybe the smackheads were being extra smackey when they did the survey, there's one that's started wandering naked out into their front yard

YouTube drama can be weirdly fascinating at times. There's a 4 hour video on Nickacado Avocado and it's all so low stakes but incredibly important to the people going through it at the time

3

It so is, I've been putting a load out when my MIL isn't in the backroom of her place (which is where the back door is). Unfortunately she usually sits there so it limits me to before she gets up or when she has her afternoon nap.

To balance last weeks good luck getting third in line at the food market, today I got third last. I ended up with three parsnips so will have to do lots of roast vegie dishes. Also a leek and some potatoes, which would be much better news if it was still soup weather.

It is always rosti weather - and you have the makings right there in front of you. You could even include the parsnips if you felt like it.

I... Did not realise they got Eli Roth to direct the Borderlands film... And they made it... PG13!!!!!????

I'm sorry, the guy who directed, produced, and wrote: Cabin Fever, Hostel I and II, and The Green Inferno, did a PG13 adaption of motherfucking BORDERLANDSβ€½

IT COULD HAVE BEEN AN R18 SPLATTER FILM GODFUCKINGDAMMIT

I want to get off this timeline

4

Maybe it was and the studio execs took all the good bits out to cater to a "wider audience"?

4
Taleyareply
aussie.zone

well that's proof positive this isn't the worst timeline. In the worst timeline it's Uwe Boll

4

I've not heard good things about the movie. Also I think it did really badly at the box office.

TinyBreakreply
aussie.zone

Yeah the timelines getting strange hey. First the trump thing, then Biden drops out, Australia comes 4th at the Olympics, Dutton backing "green" energy, High Jackman puts the claws back on... We keep swining between the good timeline and the darkest.

3
aussie.zone

Apparently it was filmed a few years back and then reshot. A stunt actor recently said it had a lot of head popping, etc. so it was probably R and went to PG.

tldr: studio interference (as usual)

2
aussie.zone

I'm so disappointed in the casting of that thing. And the pg13 is just stupid.

Loved borderlands 1 and 2, and this is what we get. An animation would have been heaps better.

1

I love 1 and 2, would have loved 3 more if it wasn't a glitchy laggy mess 😱 I also loved the Prequel tbh, though I think I'm in the minority with that one πŸ‘€

I watched the redlettermedia review, and I'm so mad. Apparently Eli Roth changed it to PG13. Wtf Eli?! I believed you! We all believed in you!

Fucking stupid piece of shithouse adaption. I want to smack everyone into the sun. How dare they ruin Borderlands like that, they did the IP dirty.
