What sort of topics are allowed on here?
Obviously there aren't enough users here yet for multiple niche communities. But is "general" an anything-goes community, is there a no-politics rule?

It's a good question. Personally, I would prefer to have a no-politics space, but I guess it's up to the admins how they want things to work.
