Put a cat to sleep yesterday. Feel like I'm being a massive fuckoff inconvenience for booking in some annual for the next couple days, yet I know it'll be worse if I go in.

Not sure what the point of this comment was, but fuck it, sometimes you've gotta vent.

22

It's the hardest decision to make. Vent away, we understand. And take the days off too. Grief is not limited to losing human friends and family, these furry buggers are more family than my blood relatives.

9

You just lost a member of your family. Take time off to grieve and vent all you need to

9

Take the time off without guilt, the loss and grief are not small things even if others might think it shouldn't matter. It's better to give yourself the time and space than to force yourself through. Condolences for your loss.

8

My deepest sympathies. ๐Ÿ’” Take the time without guilt.

5

Oh Iโ€™m so sorry - itโ€™s just the hardest thing to do. We had to do that a while back and it was just awful. Kept expecting her to pop up around the house for ages afterwards.

3

Today saw a person wearing an oodie in Kmart, and someone in pyjamas in the supermarket. I think we have all collectively decided fuckit, itโ€™s too cold.

I start work Tuesday (for some unknown reason).

Tomorrow it's haircut/beard trim, meal prep, shopping and playing with fluffybutt because it's going to be weird being away from the house for approx 11 hours a day.

By 8pm tonight I was ready for bed. So I thing my sleep clock is back to normal.

Goodnight all โค๏ธ

14

It's good to start with a short week. So much new stuff to learn, and new faces, and where everything is. You'll be wrecked by Friday anyway. And then week 2 will seem that bit easier as you start to know stuff.

6

I start work Tuesday (for some unknown reason).

Payroll cycle, methinks.

So excited for you! You are doing awesome!!!!

Excuse the messy bed

Also I forgot to mention, if anyone needs a reference, you're welcome to hit me up ๐Ÿ™‚

14

So much for plans for the day. Boyo regretting decisions to drink much rocket fuel punch, then eat special brownies and pavement. Colourful words and contusions.

12

Still out in the CBD. Crazy my MIL and I are so similar. I wish she was my mum, she's put in the work to turn herself around, while having cptsd. A true inspiration to me.

I love her so much. She's just such an amazing person. I feel so blessed by the universe, after 28 years of shit, to have these people in my life.

oh nononono not until tuesday. You'll just tear it all up with how wet everything is

4

It will have rained again by then, but I approve of the sentiment. Did air out the house during the brief burst of sunshine, so that will be my maintenance for this weekend.

I have a tomato plant against a wall I was hoping would survive over winter and maybe give some early fruit next year. Not only is it surviving, it has actually produced a tomato! I don't expect it to ripen in this weather, but it definitely bodes well for the early summer fruit plan.

11

I have one of those too. Donโ€™t know what the confused thing is doing.

So we finally have a bedroom door. (previous apartment didn't have one)

Except we can't close it.

The balls of fur totalling 15kg would scream at the door to be let in, once let in, they would park themselves on my wife and I, one on her side, one on top in between us, one on my side - trapping us in place.

We just got an expanda rod and hung a curtain

In our case it would be promptly pulled down, or if it manages to hold the weight, have holes all over them and scaled.

1

Unfortunately true. You can't keep hollowing out the abc and still expect high quality results for ever.

Wasnโ€™t it just a borked update that got rolled out all at once and on a Friday?

3

I am doing it. I am going outside in search of sunshine, ibuprofen and proper sudafed.

Eating at a sandwich place outside. This person is standing โ€œawayโ€ from the eating area to have her cigarette, but the wind is blowing the smoke smell right where Iโ€™m eating. Gross.

The sandwich was A+ though, so satisfied.

9

So disrespectful ๐Ÿ˜‘ I smoke (on and off, quitting is hard ๐Ÿ˜ญ) and tend to walk away if I want a smoke. As in, waaaay away. Around a corner, in an unoccupied alley. If I'm walking in a group, I'll walk behind everyone so they're not walking in my smoke (wind dependant). And it's wild people don't care about wind direction, it's not hard to stay downwind of the public. If there's no bins, I flick the butt out and put it in a small bag within my bag, I never litter them. Or slap a nicotine patch on and wait until you're home/take some gum.

Shameful behaviour, makes the rest of us addicts look real bad lol

6

Ugh. I have this issue while waiting for public transport on the daily. Gives me the shits.

Went into the city yesterday and went to the State Library. I thought I'd finally be able to make an appearance at one of the pro Palestine demonstrations but it was some weird anti CCP group out the front yesterday

8

I accidentally walked through a protest on Oct 10th on my way to the art gallery.

A woman with a loud speaker was yelling River to the Sea ( a call to genocide, not only of Jews but of all infidels including Sunni Muslims and Christians, but first Jews , eh ) and people in the crowd answered with "Kill them".

I hurried through shaken. This must have been what it was like to live in Germany in the 1930s.

5
aussie.zone

It's always anti CCP outside the State Library. I think a few also hang around Spencer St Station.

If I see a future date for a pro-palestine one (the posters are all over Sydney Rd), I'll let you know :D

4

For me it's more that I need to get a whole family into the city which takes an hour. I was hoping things would line up on Saturday

I've finished sewing the covers, they look cool. Now for taking the old material off the seat pads and stapling the new on. After that sand and paint the chairs. ๐Ÿ‘

ok, pictures of the fabric covers I made coming up , they are about 80 x 80 cms , they will go on big black wood stained carved chairs. All the patterns on the fabric are woven

8

Thanks. Making these has been a real learning experience, the fabric designers are so talented, the colours they use, the patterns, the types of thread. Some of them are copies of ancient and traditional textile designs and I think some of the fabrics I used are about 50 years old.

7

Went ice skating this afternoon. 2.5 hours on the ice with the kids..I am so sore.

8

My nose and throat feel like someone has taken to them with a scrubbing brush. And so much snot. But I have changed out of PJs (into trackies and oodie). Working up to a walk outside in the sun

4

Felt like the pits at 7:30am but a bit more sleep, water, Nurofen and sweating it out and I am getting better again. The sun is absolutely helping. It's an automatic immune booster.

Airing the house out to clear the cloud of sickly miasma that's built up over the week. Chugging so much liquid. Please let this be the beginning of the end, I can't take any more of the coughing and sinus headaches. Was coughing to the point of almost throwing up yesterday. My neighbours must hate me ๐Ÿ˜ฌ

7

Something real basic today.

Coffee and food! Grateful to have those things right now.

4

๐Ÿก๐Ÿ‘จโ€๐Ÿ‘ฉโ€๐Ÿ‘งโ€๐Ÿ‘ฆ plus the farmers market I went to at Essendon today. It was a beautiful day for it and there were plenty of dogs to smile at. One couple even had a ferret in a special ventilated carry bag, which fascinated Miniest to no end!

Heading home today from my house and dog sitting duties. I thought I was going to be back in a few months for longer but it seems like my parents are going to cancel their upcoming Vegas trip.

This does open the door of possibility for me... I could go somewhere. I shall ponder. Ponder I shall.

7

I donโ€™t think the shoes I wore last night are recoverable.

Menopausal skin outbreak. Haven't had skin eruptions for 35 years or so. Put ti tree on it and it must've been too strong because now I have this weird tough dry patch on my face that I want to scratch :(

Braved Aldi this afternoon as the cats have suddenly decided they don't want cat food anymore, they want chicken and (sometimes) mince. I also got them pet roo stuff... We shall see.
Forgot the bloody stock cubes but did remember the ingredients for red wine and mushroom risotto, so with that one I can use Vegemite as it turns out brownish anyway.
Anyway Zooks greeted her chicken with loud purrs, so I'm good there!

I have finally completed a long-avoided task and identified and sorted out my sewing machine feet. Some of the vintage ones took a bit of sleuthing to figure out what they are. The mechanical complexity of some of the old attachments is extremely impressive.

5

I love how the feet for my 1906 Singer treadle fit my 2020 Janome electric machine , I learnt to sew on an old machine and how to use the feet, I've forgotten now and anyway the tin with all the feet has been lost

For a sick day it was reasonably productive. Had a walk in the sun. Picked some some anti-snot drugs. Did a tidy up of the lounge room and about to clean off the kitchen bench. And watched more of Swedish death cleaning.

Tender Mercies - Glen Hansard and Eddie Vedder.

When Eddie toured years ago, he had Glen Hansard as his support. I got tickets at the last minute. I got stuck in traffic and couldn't find a park in St Kilda and walked into Glen Hansard ripping it out full ball on his last song. I was wanting so much to see him play, and I only got the last song. I'd seen him play the Recital Centre and he was just phenomenal. If you're ever able to see him, it's worth it .... Eddie was great, but I was actually looking forward to Glen Hansard more. They then recorded this album (which I think is a film soundtrack), that features this song.
