every slightly popular thing gets their anime girls, nothing can escape

Wow! It's even got a backstory and all.
Doesn't make the product more appealing though. The only thing that does that for me is the Datasheets.

Speak for yourself, I'm installing IE6 right away

Let me introduce you to the concept of the Venn Diagram

Yeah I was really disappointed when I tried Hyprland

That’s what makes me dislike more and more the FOSS community because it seems none of the FOSS devs have seen a women in their life and have very sus kinks.

This is how marketing works in Asia. Major corps do it every bit as much. You have anime mascots or you don't sell to anyone under 40, from my understanding.

16

It's a meme, ya dunce. I don't think anyone is furiously jerking it to the Debian logo just because it has some poorly drawn animeys next to it.

3

The Debian logo is very similar to the progynova logo (progynova is estrogen). The above image is probably inspired by that.

20

Yet, I don't see a direct relation between (trans) gender and sexuality. (I've seen a meme making fun of the similarity of the logos and packaging before, so I see the point).

This promotes pedophilia.

Idk why so many grown nerds insist on sexualizing little girls.

Edit: wow turns out this instance is full of pedophiles. Gross.

I've seen this image pop up now and then for like 10+ years as a meme in the Linux community and never not once did I think this.

Obviously if that's a confirmed intention behind it, then it's not okay, but I think you're overthinking it, it's just how anime designs are, the characters often look agelessly young.

These look like pretty average anime characters to me and don't strike me as implying something problematic in the slightest.

Idk I'm an outside observer to weeb shit, but that's how I always interpreted it at least.

You can have a romance without sexualizing shit, it's not all about sex.

That is not ok either. Children adult sexual or romantic relationships are not ok because of the power dynamic. Both of legal rights and emotional and mental maturities.

Weird how none of these arguments show up on images of hetero teen romance.

6
lemmy.world

Doesnt matter if theyre gay/straight, this is very obviously sexualizing minors. The skirts blowing up is a dead giveaway.

6

Good point, with hetero teen romance the guy usually isn't even wearing a skirt.

1

This isn't even an image of lesbian teen romance tbh. Its penned for the viewers interest instead of candid scene of two kids in love

1
lemm.ee

The girls in the picture appear to be minors though? I never suggested an age difference??? Wtf...

3

The perspective of the image is voyeuristic. The person criticing the trend is talking about that issue.

If you're an adult, and you're interested in children's romance thats the same issue. In fact, all content directed towards older audences featuring this kind of stuff, is directed to, and made by pedos.

5
lemm.ee

All the high school romance stories are directed to pedos? Give me a break...

Woudnt it make sense for computers in city 17 running something like RedstarOS so that they can see what every single citizen is doing

I thought we just had a pride month, how many are there now??

Debian is out of date. That's it. That's the entire joke. It's basically this without beating on the rotting horse corpse of IE. (And this, like the IE meme, is funnier the longer it's been since June).

Personally I think it is too blocky and the colors too random, but I don't know the original comment that gave the inspiration. I like much more, although I'd rather see the rainbow colors follow the direction of the swirl more.

12

Haha no worries. I should really explore other desktops. I have been on gnome for like 20 years :|

1

I just searched for "Debian Rainbow" in an image search. I'm sure you can easily hack something together with a rainbow gradient mask over the regular logo in an image editor.

Interesting, to me, the dual gradient looks like late 90s WordArt lol

I was more talking about the logo itself, not the background.

I'll fix it up in a bit, but I made it on my phone because I was in the process of re-installing Debian on my potato laptop, and it felt like blasphemy to make it on my gaming laptop (which is currently Windows only until I get another SSD for it), lol.

EDIT: fixed. Mind you, it's still not good...
