They aren't mutually exclusive. Mimics swallow a lot of things whole.

My players have entered the Feywild recently under charges by an Archfey and I've had plenty of signs. Kinda sad they actually read them and are being cautious.

I don't know what's more concerning about this, the bird eating a guy or that the guy is just hanging there limp like he's letting it happen, you'd think someone being picked up to be eaten whole would be flailing about a bit more

I mean that depends more on the meal really, some of the best ways to use sausage specifically call for breaking the casing, like sausage patties in a breakfast sandwich, or making ground chorizo to put on a nacho platter
