I feel like we as a nation need to take obfuscation off the table and have protest, sit-ins, marches to demand that a referendum to have referendums be put on all ballots moving forward. Then when the population decides on a measure, it has to be done by the legislature.

And if they succeed in Ohio, they'll do it again in other states.
