Back in the late 2000s and early 2010s, before they put up a fence, you could watch the 4th of July fireworks over Town Lake from the top of Castle Hill, even sitting on the edge of the furthest-up of the retaining walls. Benign neglect is responsible for so many cool experiences in my life. It was a very chill and low-key way to share the spectacle with several dozen other people.
Absolutely. That was so cool. I have pics of my bicycle leaning on one the walls there.
I heard they moved to a different place, but I haven't seen it yet. I gotta check it out
That place was really awesome.
They don't feature Castle Hill but, there is a really cool 3 part series on PBS called Muraling Austin about murals in town. It is really good.
Some pics we had there
