NASA TV does it fairly regularly, but I always thought there should be a stream that shows live satellite views of the Earth 24/7. Just switch between satellites when one crosses over to the night side.

In one of the last offices I worked in the military before I retired, there was a TV in the corner of the room, but the TV tuner attached to it only had one channel - NASA TV. I spent about a year by myself in that office, watching satellite views of the earth. It was very peaceful.

Oh nice, I didn't know it was constant now. It used to just be on between shows. Still, yeah, they need something to cover the day side all the time.

Edit: That said, it appears to be down at the moment.

I wanted to make a joke about seeing the Earth from above as opposed to below like from underground but I started thinking about molemen and it got lame. Then I thought about making it below if you were in the southern hemisphere, then that fell apart and I just wrote this. It was an interesting minute. But I dig orbital photos and stuff so this rocks.

Yeah, sorry, your link would have been fine for most people 'cos they'll be accessing Lemmy through an app that auto-magically resolves absolute links into ones relative to their instance. It's just because I'm not using Lemmy (I've seen the MBin guy do the same thing before)

The link you posted is a website link. Hence the app I use for lemmy (Connect) opens it in an external browser. From there, I can't subscribe, since I'm only logged in, in the app.

The link format that andrew posted is a lemmy link. It is instance independant, meaning that you can view it through any lemmy server, or even via other federated platforms. Connect opens this link within the app.
