The original post had "more than 3,000 likes in less than three years" and for the second Instagram post it says"Within seven months, the post gained over 4,000 likes." Do Instagram posts continue active participation for years? I felt pretty good the few times I've posted something that got thousands of likes but it's more personal achievement 'than this is going to be bigger than two broken arms".

It's not trying to be impressive, just historical. All knowyourmeme pages are like that.
There's no rule that says a meme can't be good just because it hasn't been circle jerked to death on reddit.
It's just aiming to report facts to provide context to the reader.
Yeah I think the reddit numbers are skewed though. They stopped showing the true number of upvotes a long time ago I think.
