TIL that “OK” is said to be the most widely spoken word in the world, having been adopted as a loanword in mamy languages. However, the etymology of the word is uncertain.

The most compelling explanation of the etymology that I've seen is that there was a meme where people would deliberately misspell short phrases, and one of the most common ones was to spell "All Correct" as "Oll Korrect"
They didn't just have lolspeak; they also had cat memes.
