Pretty much. Brazil is a huge hodgepodge of different ethnicities from all continents, more so than any other country in America, and its black population traces it's roots to the slave trade.

According to Wikipedia, of the 12-12.8 million African slaves shipped to the new world, about 5.5 million went to Brazil. In comparison, the US received about 388,000.

That's interesting, I knew there were a lot of slaves outside of the US but I've always heard so much about US slaves that I thought they would be a significant portion of the slave trade.
