  • European (and even better, Baltic) company
  • Compared to OpenWRT, RouterOS is very well integrated and documented and works (at least most of the time)
  • Very good price to performance& features ratio, esp. in the higher end enterprise switching/routing gear

I know I'm late to the party here.
Mikrotik is cheap and powerful. I wouldn't say it's easy tho.

I do a lot of live events. So the biggest thing for me is to be able to slap down a basic network and have it work. And then when some crazy request or problem comes along, I can completely reconfigure it into a managed network with internet access, multiple WiFis and VLANs, do static DNS assignments, firewall tricks, VPNs and all that.
Sure, a CRS isn't going to be as full bandwidth as a CCR, but it's rare that I need to do full throughput routing/filtering/queues. Most of the time, I need something to get out of trouble or provide a "good enough solution". Most commonly, it's bridging onto some venue WiFi and providing internet to a bunch of local computers that need to download files.
