I probably underloaded a bit but the lather was still pretty good. I have a tendency to overcompensate when I use a stiffer brush on a softer soap and it was my first time using the moar boar on milksteak so I didn't want to load half the tub for one shave. Still not tired of this scent.
This is exactly one of the reasons why I prefer Barrister and Mann's Reserve soap base or harder. I tend to use waaaay too much soap when the base is soft... though I suppose with how much soap I have, I could probably afford to overload my brush every time.
I took my time with the Flying Wing this morning, paying attention to riding the cap closely. Hell, the razor head even has a bullseye etched into it to remind you to ride the cap. Following the razor's advice, I got a spectacular shave. SBS's base is super slick and takes little effort to get it there and this GEM enjoyed slicing through it. No feedback from the splash to boot.
One day closer to the end of the week, thankfully, but my work calendar looks friggin' ugly. Gonna need a bigger coffee cup, clearly. Have a great day all!
Funeral for a friend today.

Quick shave before I leave town. After the tough shave I had with the Slim the other day it was a bit of a risk, but I decided to go with the Feather because they are tHE shArPeST, and got a better shave with it. I’ll be rocking my SEs when I’m out of town, because I don’t want to risk things as much.

I didn't want to like the Midnight Stag. I wrinkled my nose when I first unscrewed the lid. There was no way I wanted this stuff touching my face. Now after six shaves I’m a fan. Great lather and unique fragrance.
My parents always listened to jazz. I remember seeing Stan Kenton live when I was about six. WDCB is a low power station, so I have to stream if I want to listen.
I grew up in Chicago listening to WDCB. My dad is a professional jazz pianist, still gigging in Chicago. He's 100% on some of the songs that play on WDCB too.
Post Shave: House of Mammoth - Fú Dào Aftershave Splash
Post Shave: House of Mammoth - Z Aftershave Balm
Fú Dào was the first HoM set I tried. The scent, as is the case with every scent, is not what I imagined. But it immediately had my attention. The scent was unique to anything I'd tried before and the Tusk base was just phenomenal. Tusk has become my favorite base, it's just so agreeable with me, and Bens perfumery is just something that completely stands out as his own.
This Ralf Aust is a wondeful shaver. Light and smooth as butter. It gave me a close and comfortable shave, free of any nicks or irritation.
Very few soaps I have can match Prairie Dog for how great my face feels after using it. And the scent is really calming. For some reason I have off work tomorrow, and not Monday when the actual holiday is. Strange but I'm not complaining.
Post Shave: Pasteur|Master Soap Creations - Bloom - Aftershave
Fragrance: Tom Ford - Black Orchid - Eau de Parfum
2 passes. Face lather. Excellent shave.
Man! What a setup today! This razor and brush need no explanation. Both are terrific, and I use them a lot. MSC from South Africa is no joke. This is a killer soap base for straight razor shaving. It takes as much hydration as you want to give it and it has a silky, luxurious feel to it. It is similar but a little heavier to the feel of Zingari Man's Sego base. The scent of Bloom is a Black Orchid dupe, so I used the real thing for fragrance.
I am in the exact same situation you are. I have a lot of soaps. I intend to buy another MSC soap, as well as a couple WestMan Shaving soaps, because I like including soaps made outside the US. But I badly need to thin my soap collection.
I used Gerês this morning, which is a a nice fougère with a vetiver undercurrent. Utopia is an warm, amber and pipe tobacco scent. My seasonal favorite so far is Alma. The scent notes: Red Roses, Passion Fruit, Passion Flower, Musk, Cedar, Oud
Thanks for the recommendations! Those are the three that I have been weighing. I have several other great fougère scents so I did not want to start with Gerês, and I am seasonal with scents so Utopia (which, frankly, is a given) probably won't get used until the fall. My biggest question was about Alma. I like everything about that scent description but haven't seen (or paid attention) when anyone used it.
A Geo F. Trumper gift bag next to an E-Bar razor and an Executive Shaving Co Medium Jock brush
Razor: Ever-Ready Natural Angle (E-Bar)
Blade: Personna GEM PTFE
Brush: Executive Shaving Medium Jock
Lather: Geo F. Trumper Rose shaving cream
Aftershave: Southern Witchcrafts Carpathia toner
I went to Geo F. Trumper in Jermyn Street yesterday, next to Floris, Taylor of Old Bond Street, and D.R. Harris, and ended up getting their Rose shaving cream. It really smells delicious.
The shave was a quick very early morning hotel shave before getting to the airport, and I'm looking forward to repeating it when I have more time to enjoy the register scent.
Yeah, it was a nice trip! Lots of corporate speak (which still baffles me after one year out of academia), but a few days in London with colleagues works wonders when you're the new guy and need to figure out who's who😅
Got this cream as a sample from a "Made in England" store. Smells good, but overpriced. Judging by the crappy shave I got, I can't recommend it to anyone, although I may have given it more water than it's designed for.
Most of the "traditional British" soaps/creams are severely overpriced and overrated, imo. The main reason why people still buy them is because noobs see that they're "old and traditional" in youtube videos and don't know any better. Anytime I can steer people away from them, I do. TOBS specifically almost scared me off from wetshaving because the performance was basically the same as the canned goop I was using before.
This shave was incredible! The B13 made an incredible lather from the Milksteak base, the Blutt gave a smooth and effortless shave, and Confluence and Hygge are both incredibly stunning scents that work really well together.
First headshave in a while. Two months with hair and it was already back to an itchy dandruff nightmare. Had a barber do a straight shave yesterday. It’s still crazy to me that I can do a 2 pass shave with a 2 week old blade and get a closer shave than the barber with a fresh blade.
Good close shave. No irritation with only one tiny bleeder on my neck. Tried out the Rockwell blade, and the results for me were mixed. The blade had medium sharpness to it, but the feedback was not like what I wanted it to be. There was some tugging on the first go, which lingered in some areas with the coarsest hair during the subsequent passes. At least the blade wasn’t bad enough for me to give up on it mid-shave, as I persevered and kept going with it till the very end. It gave me a close shave to my liking, but it should’ve been better than what I actually got out of it. It’s not the worst blade I ever tried, it’s just an ok blade that gave me mixed results. Would I use that blade again? Probably not as there are other blades that I like that are miles better. Overall, good shave heading into the weekend. The next blade to try out is a blade made by Lord, so stay tuned.

Beautiful shave with a fresh blade. You should try Bixby.
The word Bixby is hated in my house. My wife's phone comes up at the wrong moments because of that app.. hates it.
Samsung's Bixby is a complete kluge.

The best shave I have had with this razor. The weight of the razor combined with the width makes it a bit different to get used to.

Tusk is really up there for me, too. I like how flexible it is, and the kind of creaminess and slickness it provides is just what I like.
Agreed! Top tier base.

I somehow feel that shavettes are much less dangerous than straight razors. I wouldn't dare shaving with a straight at this time of the day.
Marduk whipped up with the soft horse works effortlessly.
Have a good night!
Regarding shavettes vs straights, my experience is that shavettes always cut me worse. ¯_(ツ)_/¯

Good luck with that Lord blade. They were always super tuggy for me.
Only did a one pass shave with this razor this time and had to lather on my palm, but got a shave in nonetheless! Lav Sublime is a nice scent too.
