Ex-FBI official says GOP is telling agents: 'If you investigate our party, you are going to pay the price'

Former FBI official Frank Figliuzzi wasn't happy after watching Republicans grill FBI director Christopher Wray in the House Wednesday. While Democrats questioned Wray for ignoring warnings about Jan. 6, Republicans sought answers to a slew of conspiracy theories and culture war grievances that go a...

Look I'm no fan of Republicans but I'm not about to defend the FBI. They literally gave Philly PD two pounds of C4 to bomb residences in Philadelphia in 1985.

Let's not pretend they're some bastion of democratic values, they're still feds.

Yeah, but that's not what the Republicans are upset about. The FBI has a long and very checkered past, but they're not wrong to be investigating the Republican party at this point.

That was almost 40 years ago, it's doubtful the same people still work at the FBI. A lot of historically bad things happened at that organization under J. Edgar Hoover, but I wouldn't judge the modern FBI on that either.

"Leave Our White Nationalists alone! They just want the Third Reich to rise again, no big deal!"

Fun fact: the GOP has lost something like 10 out of their last 12 special elections.

I'm sure lame threats from a criminal organization will kowtow the fucking FBI.

If this is true, this is quite literally just more evidence for a RICO case.

And why is FBI going along with this exactly? Aren’t they like a level above the party members?

It's mostly the folks in the middle who have (pseudo-secret) extremely partisan values which divest from those of the mission, but there are a few sprinkled in at the very top that are giving the orders.

The thin blue line needs to be crossed by the good ones- and it would only take a small percentage to break it forever. It's a cancer of justice, and is the root cause for myriad problems in the US.

I read Comey's book, and despite his attempt to look like a good guy, and self-aggrandizing he was definitely one of the bad ones.

So, when do were get to officially classify them as a terrorist organization?

In other words "nothing to see here, move along now. Absolutely nothing to see"

You don't need /s if it's obvious. In fact, you never need it. It's also not really sarcasm so it's a bit of a fluff there bud.

Some FBI agents want to uphold the law regardless of political party affiliation. Republicans, members of the party that's currently committing most of the crimes, don't like this.

Yeah, see, this is what I’m talking about. You have no data necessary to make that statement

Statements made:

In fact we’re literally in the comment section for an article about the agency behaving exactly the opposite!!!

This article is about Republican officials threatening FBI agents to prevent them being investigated, and attempting to corrupt and politicize the organization by placing cronies in charge. I don't see any claims made about actual existing bias there, but rather perceived bias from Republicans. In fact it points out that the prosecutions of the Trump administration were performed by Trump appointees, which seems to imply the opposite of what you claim regarding bias. I'm not saying it doesn't exist but it's not in this article.

As for weaponizing the FBI against their political rivals, the GOP is super into that. They publicly announced their intention to do so well in advance.

Edit: Tsk, tsk, @AngrilyEatingMuffins. You've downvoted a good faith answer with citations, I guess you don't like being corrected.

8

Actually, they mainly recruit from the GOP membership. So its a fair bet they would get away with it.
