I think the reason no one in his group can tell him the result is that those people are allowed only 1 call, and that’s usually to a lawyer.

I dunno. I'm kinda rooting for this one to succeed. Illegitimate debts deserve illegitimate payments.

He decided to "discharge" the debt which means more magical paperwork they ignore.

I hope the outcome isn't merely collections but instead a lawsuit. I love it when they try to "dismiss" those by not showing up.
