Wouldn't 10d10 be something very different? Like, I can get a result of 43 with the commonly used definition of 10d10 (10 dice with 10 sides each), but I can only get multiples of 10 with the die in question.
How I look at it: xdx = the first x is how the numbers go up, and the second x says how many sides. 1 meaning the numbers are sequential starting at one. 2 would be going up by 2 each time. X2 would be doubling each time.

What sort of bush league is this? Everyone knows you go from d20>d4 in order, just as the Gods of Balance intended.
If you've got time to stack dice, you've got time to take notes.
Or more importantly, plan your turn so it doesn't take so long other players have time to build a dice tower.

If you say "a 10d10", I know what you mean, but "10d10" is definitely the sum of 10 10-sided dice.
