I haven’t read it since middle school, more than 40 years ago, but I think I recall the Star Wars novelization (of A New Hope’s screen play) stated that Chewie was getting a medal too, but that he’s have to wait because Leia was to short to present it to him the same as she did for Luke and Han.
The novelisation also has all the Biggs scenes and tells us Luke had a puppy as a child.
It also implies that the moisture farmers didn't just harvest water, they actually used that water for farming crops (was it hydroponics? It's been a while since I read it).
Wasn't there something that said that Wookiees have a cultural taboo against receiving things like medals in exchange for great deeds, or am I just making that up in my memories?
