Holy shit, they actually did it
Holy shit, they actually showed the footage! Hahahaha
Is that Chris Hero walking back through the camera shot afterwards head in hands?
I don't know, but Tony Schiavone looked absolutely disappointed in what happened, I think that was the first time he questioned his choices since joining AEW.
Really looking at the vid in the context of the story I like it. The Bucks only lost because of this stupid petty shit from FTRs bestie who obviously wanted out
FTR then counters with an actual EVP response that they just want to focus on wrestling and people who actually support AEW
I'm really impressed how they angled it.Round of applause for the mad lads!
You think Brodie wears one of those shirts that are basically a onesie? How does it not come untucked?
Skills.
Why isn't this in the Louvre?
Probably because they don't want wrestling fans in there. Can't say I blame them.
Yeah I wouldn't want us in there either tbqh.
The look on Tony's face says it all, he looks like he's done and just wants to go home, indefinitely.
He has been very open about wanting to move on from this, then they air it, and the AEW crowd begins chanting for CM Punk, it doesn't appear to have done anything for them, I guess we'll see when the ratings come out.
My knee-jerk reaction was he was having WCW flashbacks of some of their crazy actions.
I like the shithead story the Bucks crafted around it. The IWC is just so toxic.
The Punk apologists think this makes him like great by bullying Jack who really didn't look aggressive
The AEW fans want to move on because the discourse is against them and everything will be used against
Growing up WWE/WCW did so much worse to each other and so many things just stayed as lore we heard 10 different viewpoints in shoots
It's new and it's interesting that everyone hates that TK was just like fuck it, this shit has been dragging on for 8 months and it honestly just becomes a fallback way to shit on the company. So screw it, show the footage, try to get some storyline heat from it , eat shit for a few weeks and move on finally
I just want to be on record, I like Perry being in Japan and crafting his scapegoat gimmick, I very much believe he needed a character that wasn't Jungle Boy. From what I've seen this scapegoat stuff has been good. I don't care for the Bucks, but yes the story of them leaning into being EVP assholes is right up my alley and I enjoyed that aspect of it.
I think TK's too happy playing EWR in real life, I feel like one of the biggest critics of him, I think he's Vince Russo and Dixie Carter bad a lot of the time with his antics. Though I do see your point. Had that video been shown when Tony came out and said I had to fire Phil Brooks, they would have come out of this much better, but they wouldn't have been able to use it in a story.
If they eat shit and everything moves on, that's great, let us never hear of CM Punk in AEW again, no more alluding to it, to use D.A.R.E. as an example... Just Say No to Punk!
I still don't think it was that big of a deal, this happens in sports, but I fully side with TK firing Punk, it's his company and if one person steps out of line, that's his right, especially with Punk angrily getting in his face, I just wish he would have stepped in before they got here.
Lol yeah most of TKs missteps seems like a rich kid with an empathy gap who wasn't exposed to much. He's also an irl shitposter so he has a tendency to get tilted and respond in uncommon ways to things
I saw SRS basically encapsulate it perfectly that a portion of detractors just want AEW to do things the way they want.
I think the 20 years of WWE running unopposed did alot of damage to what wrestling is/supposed to be and social media doesn't help
I just appreciate that we have a viable alternative and competition and TK gets alot of shit for not being WWE lite and having the same goals as them
Well Punk definitely swung first
Never doubted.
Yes! This is carny as fuck!
Quoting Punk's "If you have a problem with Jack Perry you have a problem" is fantastic
Between the backstage footage and the Osprey jabs, it kind of makes them come off as low rent.
Idk
This is some champagne shenanigans
Penta ain't paid by the minute lol
Pentas moveset is just him with escalating levels of dick moves
And that's why Penta Oscuro is the best
Just...no halloween costume Alex please.
Even more Halloween costumes!
The EVPs making an executive decision here
Okadas brand of smug dickhead balances them out nicely
Sooo are we doing this eliminator match later in the show
I'm assuming so
Well I guess that means I need to find time tonight to watch Collision.
Also,
I see you.
So, how do we see this shit going? lol
No matter what there will be drama. Depending on how toxic, it will be great or exhausting for the next couple of weeks
For people like me who aren't fans of Punk, it's gonna be annoying, there's wayyyyyy more better and unproblematic wrestlers we could all be focusing our energy on, but for some magical reason we always end up talking about Punk, he hadn't touched a ring for 7 odd years and you couldn't escape conversations of him or hearing his name.
It's unfortunately a situation where we have to be the change we want to see by simply not engaging when his name comes up.
(And I'm fully aware of my hipocrisy in posting this comment after posting that gif in the Punk footage thread.)
A-motherfucking-men.
I'm trying to think of a way this goes well. It feels like something lawyers would handle in any other business. Either way I'm breaking out the extra big bowl for popcorn!
Rated Chicken Hawks
A true strange pairing that also makes sense
😂😂 Idk I needed a Young Bucks countdown until now
And now it's gone!
Color me shocked that a man who usually comes out to Judas would screw over someone
He really is the Judas in his mind
Swerve ain't wasting any time
No time for dance. Time for blood.
Dustin's in the back wondering where his music is
Looking forward to the future mixed tag
Shit I'd watch Brodie vs Willow
Silly Dustin it takes 3 Cross Rhodes for a Samoan
He obviously never took the recommended Steiner Math course
It's Kurt Angles fault for not being there, because if he was in the match, the math would add up.
Never forget to carry over the Kurt
Yeah because if you don't, that will spell disaster for you at Sacrifice.
Tried and tested.
Don't take any shit, Anna!
Shibata just having a prerecorded soundboard of responses for any conversational topic is something that still pops me.
Lol yeah I would definitely turn down getting interviewed by Marvez
Stupid sexy Marvez
I love Stoke.
Time to watch Okada bully someone
Accurate.
😂😂These assholes still used the elevator
They're not going to walk like some plebians
Still paying the damn thing off, gotta use it.
Willow attacked Mone!
Julia giving me some Hexadecimal vibes with that promo.
We don't do ratings threads here, and for the most part I appreciate that, I just want to put up last nights ratings for things... I think it's a mixed bag.... 4/10/24 819,000average 0.30demo Segment Viewers 8:00 981,000 8:15 857,000 8:30 880,000 - All In Wembly Video 8:45 822,000 9:00 767,000 9:15 765,000 9:30 759,000 9:45 723,000
People were very interested starting the show on a great number, although other sites call that the Sheldon Cooper quarter because big bang gives a good lead in. But, it's good ratings went up for the Wembly stuff but then fell back to normal. So it was enough to pull in a better-than-normal quarter-hour, but it didn't keep people tuned in. I'd call that mixed bag if not good for them.
I don't think the ratings should mean much to us. WBD is happy with them and cable is a dying medium. AEW audience also skews younger which may not be captured in the Nielsen ratings
Finally managed to watch the entire show.
Is that what people were making such a fuss about? Anyone saying this is like 2000s WCW clearly wasn't watching then. You don't have to like it, but that comparison is wildly overblown.
I get why people don't like meta kayfabe, but this still works within traditional kayfabe. Even if wrestling is real, it's still meant to be done in a match. It makes sense for senior people in a company to be dragged in should a fight occur backstage, and to be distracted from their own match.
The thing I'm actually impressed with is the handshake refusal. If that was a deliberate storyline seed being dropped at the time in response to the fight, that's incredible. If it wasn't and the Bucks were legit pissed, and they've retconned it, that's clever. If it's a coincidence, using it in this way is good writing.
But, this needs to be the last mention of Punk. There is no further benefit which can be gained.
The number of times I've said that exact phrase this week is mind boggling. I watched every damn episode of Nitro, Thunder, every PPV, from the moment of the '3rd man' to the night I had to see Shane fucking McMahon on a simulcast.
Anyone who thinks AEW showing the tape is anything close to WCW 2000 must have parents who were fucking siblings, jesus christ.
Rolltide!
That video doesn't tell me shit, it's no smoking gun for AEW, IMO, because without audio we don't know what Jungle said.
I don't think there is anything that could've been said to justify attacking a coworker.
That's definitely the case
In no universe does saying something justify assaulting a coworker, this is basic kindergarten level shit.
Perry could have told Punk his mother was a dirty cunt and he was gonna fuck her arsehole after the show, it doesn't justify putting his hands on his co-worker. It's called being a functional mammal in public and it's easy for the majority of folks.
