Trudeau said $50 million would go toward a homebuilding technology and innovation fund, with another $50 million to modernize and expedite construction.

An additional $500 million worth of low-cost loans will foster projects with "innovative" construction techniques from prefabricated and modular housing manufacturers and other builders.

This is great news. We have a shortage of construction workers, so any moves that improve how we build is good.

We still need tax reforms, more construction workers, and governments building housing.

We also need more density being built. More SFH isn't going to fix our problems

You're not wrong, but I spend a lot of time (rightly) shitting on our governments. It isn't enough, but it's an incremental move in the right direction. That deserves recognition.

All these fucking announcements on housing and yet he doesn't dare take on one of the main problems - speculators.

Guy isn't even trying.

This. At a governmental level, it isn't a huge number for an issue of this magnitude. Enough to try and sway opinion (aka marketing), but less so for real change.

Isn’t the house price about 1m +? 600 dwellings in a country of 60m or however many people.

About 42M when I started writing this comment but we're probably closing on 60M now as I finish typing it out...
