is there a way to reduce the frequency of posts from specific communities?

My feed is blown up by posts from memes. Like, 80% of posts are all from memes. Regardless of how I sort. If sorted by new/hot/top/active, any combination, it’s ALL memes.

Is there a way from the site, or any app that has the function to just reduce the amount? Or do I need to just block that community?

Honestly, I wish memes would just fuck off and die. I hate to admit that I do laugh at the odd one, but I would quite happily never see one again.

I don't get why you just don't subscribe to some communities that don't have memes, and just set your feed to view 'subscribed'?

Because it’s nice to discover new communities and partake in discussions outside of my bubble.

What feed are you viewing? All, Local, or Subscribed?

I have the same issue if I'm looking at All or Local. Howevern when I drill down to just my subscribed communities, memes dwindle a lot. The trade-off is that I don't get to discover new stuff as readily, so I toggle back and forth.

It doesn’t matter. All feeds are 80% memes.

I'm guessing then that you'll have to unsub from whichever communities are the worst offenders if you're not interested in blocking them entirely 🤷🏾‍♀️

Will that reduce them from all feeds? Or just not show them from by home feed?

Unsubbing will only remove them from your Subscribed feed, but blocking a community should get rid of them altogether for you.

I haven't seen anything from lotrmemes since I blocked them. That was the most intrusively meme-y community for me. The nuclear option should do the trick if you're really just plain over it.

Good luck!

Yeah. I blocked it. Shame. I like it, but that is just WAY too much posting.
