I don't think I've actually ever heard someone call it that in person. The Simpsons really got everyone on the subreddit to stick to the meme like Teds
I don't think anyone believes that the people of Albany call burgers, "steamed ham" IRL but thought it would be an amusing gag if a restaurant labeled it in their menu.
