I mean russia ruled out attacking Ukraine and we saw how that went. So why would Macron rule out anything.

I hope that these declarations will be sufficient to bring back Putin to the negotiation table

Can a NATO country put boots on the ground without triggering article 5? Even back line support would be extremely helpful. I mean, if putin pushes the nuke button there won't be a Russia anymore.

Article 5 is only triggered when a NATO country is attacked in their territory, so no.

The problem is that Russia might interpret it as NATO officially entering the conflict and react accordingly.

Good thing he talks about Ukraine and not Russia then. :-)

I agree, Putin is indeed the kind of man who would retreat, but not before killing all the civilians and burning all the food and houses, taking advantage of the French's inablity to supply their own frontline. However, I'm not sure if that tactic is still effective in this day and age. It's mostly effective for getting you to The Hague faster.

I mean, he's already wanted at the ICC, I'm not sure he cares all that much

Someone should remind you that Poles parked in Moscow for a year. Also, read the title - in Ukraine.

Macron's "débâcle", to say it with a French word, would be funny to witness so I hope he continues down this path.

What the fuck does that even mean. No relating to my comment, you just stand on your soapbox saying shit that doesn't make sense.
