i want to mention "In the Realm of Hungry Ghosts" by Dr. Gabor Mate. Not about alcohol specifically but really helped me to understand addiction. I call this and "This Naked Mind" my Big Book.

I loved that book and Alcohol Explained too… a bit more scientific. Understanding how it fucks up your brain chemistry and perpetuates the drinking cycle itself was mind-blowing.

My partner bought me "the unexpected joys of being sober", but you, and a couple of days of sobriety, have finally convinced me to read it. In the chapter listing I see there's some references to nightclubs, which really isn't me, so I hope I can still relate to it.

I strongly concur with these recommendations! I haven't read Quit like a woman (on account of being a dude), but I'm sure it's good.
