yanzov: I just pray they finally add support for other keyboard layouts and characters other than like 8 only available now. This is ridiculous - half a year after a product release and a fundamental feature is gone (every android device, every one of their previos headsets got it). Support just says they know and I have to wait.
EVRoadie: Quest Cash. So now we'll move you way from real cash and cause you to buy more Quest Cash than you need...taken from the free2play book on how to make more money.
ILoveRegenHealth: >Adding Quest Cash into your teen’s account gives them the freedom to buy anything they have access to, while also ensuring they can’t spend more than intended. Accounts can also request Quest Cash from others, if (for instance) a new Walkabout Mini Golf course drops and your teen finds themselves low on funds.
I hope this doesn't get abused and some users harass and continually message people for Quest Cash, or gross older predators try to ask younger users for Quest Cash (or promise Quest Cash).
I don't mind the idea of a digital wallet, but I feel like giving the teens a Gift Card is still better. It's slightly more steps but safer.
Razgriz1223: I saw a video a week or two ago saying that v63 in the PTC channel blocked access to folders preventing some game modding. Did they end up changing that?
djm07231: How nice of them to add a lying down mode.
I was pretty disheartened by the fact they added and then removed it during the beta version. I was a bit incredulous about their claim that they were polishing it but, good on them for actually shipping it and proving my doubts wrong.
Gives me faith that they actually ship what they say they have in development.
Basic-Assumption6452: I used it during the beta version and it definitely needed some tweaking. I'm also excited that it was released again, in a more polished form.

mechavolt: I complain about this for the Quest 3 and get responses of "what are you talking about, it works for me." I have no idea why people keep saying this works when the patch notes and public comments specifically say it doesn't work.
Mother_Restaurant188: Not OP but in my experience you constantly have to realign things. And system menu items pop up as though you were sitting down instead of facing up.
So system notifications or pop ups for example would appear at your feet if lying down. So you end up having to constantly get up.
Try it. Watch YouTube or browse the web while lying down, then try shutting down the Quest while only lying down. The shutdown menu shows up at your feet or below the bed.
earlesj: Ya I have to constantly readjust when lying down on the quest 3. Most of the time I have to get up to move the windows to see them properly etc even after re centering. YouTube works fine tho once you’re in.
antiretro: do we know what exactly it does? i feel pretty comfortable laying down with my Q3, what does this mode add? is there something missing that Q3 already achieves or what?
Finality-: Maybe difference in headsets mean it needs more work. Not a mistake because if you go into the release notes it says "Quest 2 and Quest Pro only"
roofgram: The fact that a major use case like ‘lying down’ is experimental implies some leadership problem at Meta. Have a vision, build it, test it, release it. Experimental implies chickens running around with their heads cut off, everyone doing their own thing which explains a lot. Carmack said as much recently.
iloveoovx: I think partly due to they are facing a very biased and entitled community, even when they have good faith. We have watched over the years their release notes from playful to jaded etc for their products. You'd be worn down if you constantly facing fucking FB, bad privacy, just buy on steam so on and so forth
Qlieu: third paragraph in the intro "and as always, a reminder that our software updates release gradually to more headsets over the course of a few weeks. If you don’t see it today, no worries! You’ll be exploring virtual worlds from bed soon enough."
thehoopjr: Did you miss the entire thread of complaints about this feature not being available on Quest 3? I'm assuming from your tag that you own one. Maybe read carefully next time...
webheadVR: Not a support bot, but I noticed this for a long time too - its related to region. Scroll to the very very bottom of the release notes, then click your language and change it to English (US).
andybak: Not for me. As another user just said - it seems to be regional. I'm in that obscure, provincial backwater called the UK - so serves me right.
redditrasberry: > Tired. Sore from the gym. Feeling lazy. Just want to play a little Puzzling Places before bed. There are myriad reasons you might want to use your Meta Quest headset lying down
No Meta, I cannot think of aaany other reason people would use it lying down. None at all. You covered it.
But ... please tell me there's more to v63 than these two things. Not even the tiniest hat tip towards better handling of 2D apps?
Draiganedig: Inb4 Horizon Worlds and VR Chat become a place where a contingent of people whore themselves out or manipulate others for Quest Cash. Just you wait, there'll be people using pictures of feet as their profile pictures in no time, and now you'll know why.
GaLaXxYStArR: lol don’t come at me with that! Of course mobility updates are important but literally releasing 2 things that come along with a minor storage access/modding bug should have probably been held off for a little longer!
Also not coming to quest 3 what sense does that make!
Mister_Brevity: I’m not “coming at you” with anything. A significant update that opens the platform to a large number of people that typically get neglected was released and you downplay it because it’s not what you want. That doesn’t make it a wasted update, it just means it wasn’t for you.
TheLuckyster: Quest cash sounds funny, it's convenient and cool, just funny sounding
The lay down feature is interesting, but considering it's slowly rolling out I don't know when I'll see it
Hopefully we get more fixes and features related to watching content in VR soon (like the full screen mode being forced into being curved and other things)
ILoveRegenHealth: I just hope Quest Cash doesn't attract the worst people who keep messaging you for Quest Cash, or gross predatory users promising Quest Cash to younger users. It's rare but there's some nasty inappropriate people I've heard even in Horizon Worlds.
I'm all for Meta experimenting with new features, but I also hope they are monitoring how well it works and not simply "throwing it out there, ignoring the results and moving on".
yura910721: I am not sure how feasible it is to lie down with the Quest on your face, because of how damn heavy this thing is. I think it will start making more sense once they manage to cut on weight to XReal and other pseudo-AR glasses level.
rosieRetro: Quest 3 getting no love. I get supporting the platform that has the largest user base (quest 2) but come on...I'm tired of the quest 3 not having software optimized
ComeonmanPLS1: Perhaps it's been in development for those 2 since before Quest 3 came out and porting it might be taking longer than expected. I can't think of any other reason.
Basic-Assumption6452: Yes, it may require different adjustments based on the cameras...or something. I'm guessing they are still working on it as they know it's a feature that people want.
Suspiciousfrog69: People have been asking the option to delete uninstalled apps since the dawn of vr time. I want to hear the excuse as to why it’s impossible
Suspiciousfrog69: It defaults to the show all lists so it’s an annoyance more than anything. Also my niece played on it and downloaded some weaboo games and I get roasted by friends who scroll through the library of my games when I want to show what vr is about.
18randomcharacters: It seems really simple, but I suspect it affects some very deep down core systems.
The problem is at the poles, the coordinate system gets very dense, and asymptotic. So either you need to address that, or you need to basically rotate the entire system 90 degree (which, you did by laying down) and have the poles of the coordinate system now be where the equator used to be.

OkayOctopus_: Quest cash ?
Edit: dw I read ops comment
blakkattika: Oh my god Quest 2 users like me can finally lay the fuck down and use the system?
This is legitimately excellent
ILoveRegenHealth: >Adding Quest Cash into your teen’s account gives them the freedom to buy anything they have access to, while also ensuring they can’t spend more than intended. SCOTT0852: I believe that was inherited from upstream AOSP. It wasn't something Facebook intentionally did, I find it unlikely they'd revert it.
imnotabotareyou: Based
bpsavage84: So I can finally play VR poker while lying in "Zero G mode" in my massage chair? NICE
Samthius: Am I missing something or is there no mentioning of the lay down function for Quest 3? 👀
Logical007: Their AI bot messed up the post
xxTheGoDxx: > are myriad reasons you might want to use your Meta Quest headset lying down
I think it is mostly that VR porn is often filmed that way.
ScriptM: We can use that however we want, long time ago. Players support all sorts of image manipulation
BMW_WallyWally: Is anyone else laughing at calling it “Quest Cash” or is it just me?
OvertlyInspected: Laughing, Why?
BMW_WallyWally: I don’t feel like I need to explain my thought here.
Fast2Furious4: When does this go live? I need it NOW! 😅

antiretro: why doesnt it specify quest 3? is it a thing in 3 already or what?
earlesj: Looks like quest 2 and pro only according to the release notes. Wtf :(
mechavolt: I complain about this for the Quest 3 and get responses of "what are you talking about, it works for me." I have no idea why people keep saying this works when the patch notes and public comments specifically say it doesn't work.
squirrel4you: What is the issue with laying down with the quest 3?
Mother_Restaurant188: Not OP but in my experience you constantly have to realign things. And system menu items pop up as though you were sitting down instead of facing up.

OkayOctopus_: Lmao sucks
IdeologyNeed: They probably forgot to add it :))
ObserverVR: No, the release notes specifically states that this feature is only available for Quest 2 / Quest Pro:
https://www.meta.com/help/quest/articles/whats-new/release-notes/
Very strange.
antiretro: do we know what exactly it does? i feel pretty comfortable laying down with my Q3, what does this mode add? is there something missing that Q3 already achieves or what?
ThisThingThatImDoing: Looking straight up
antiretro: cant you adjust it manually anyways? im confused
Blackcat0123: Hopefully that's just a mistake and it'll be on the 3 as well. Looking forward to playing some Tetris Effect while lazing around.
Finality-: Maybe difference in headsets mean it needs more work. Not a mistake because if you go into the release notes it says "Quest 2 and Quest Pro only"
NewShadowR: >Send Quest Cash to a friend for their birthday—or just to say hello!
I need more "Hi Bye" friends to give me that kind of hello.

mattcoz2: This is the "test it" part.
Ok_Frosting6547: Lmao, try laying down with the Quest Pro
Bravanche: Done it numerous time without issue what do you want to convey?
thoomfish: That it's not very comfortable because the back of the halo strap will dig into your head unless you've got some weird O-shaped pillow?
Bravanche: Absolutely no problem with my pillow and it's not o shaped.
No_Bee_4979: I don't see the option to

thehoopjr: Did you miss the entire thread of complaints about this feature not being available on Quest 3? I'm assuming from your tag that you own one. Maybe read carefully next time...
devedander: I think that means they do a staggered rollout not specifically talking about slowly including other models
thil3000: Well yeah which also explains why he didn’t got it yet
devedander: Oh my bad I thought he was responding to the “only quest 2” question
thil3000: Nah but that’s just weird af, why not q3 as well or does it already do that? Zuck things I suppose
NIREKII: Wait...
>Your meta quest 2 or Pro headset
Not quest 3?
Bumblerlnteractive: way to go, paul.
Shruglife: >Use Apps While Lying Down.”
Does this disable guardian? I am using mostly this way in passthrough and resetting guardian constantly is super annoying
18randomcharacters: Probably only stationary guardian
andybak: I love how every single month they manage to post a blog post that ends with "Check out the Release Notes for a more comprehensive look"
But every single month the release notes page only has the previous release.
It's happened for as long as I remember. Wouldn't it be great if it was as simple as telling someone at Meta who knew who can fix it for next time?
Go on support bot. Prove me wrong. Prove there's human beings reading this subreddit.
webheadVR: Not a support bot, but I noticed this for a long time too - its related to region. Scroll to the very very bottom of the release notes, then click your language and change it to English (US).
Some regions can be many versions behind.
DrCamacho: Thanks, that worked!
andybak: Oh FFS...
krectus: It has the current release notes.
andybak: Not for me.

Historical-Ride-3169: When will we get v63? I check my headset and it’s still v62. Do I need to download it manually?
racso1518: Companies like to do these updates in stages. You might get it tomorrow or next week or later.
When we roll changes at my place of work we only target x% of our customers and gradually increase it.
Yodzilla: SLOTH IS BACK ON THE MENU BOYS
Draiganedig: Inb4 Horizon Worlds and VR Chat become a place where a contingent of people whore themselves out or manipulate others for Quest Cash. Just you wait, there'll be people using pictures of feet as their profile pictures in no time, and now you'll know why.
yougolepro: It's not the metaverse whole point?
GaLaXxYStArR: V63 is the most boring and useless update ever, they should of just not released anything
NEARNIL: v63 includes multimodal input (handtracking + controllers at the same time).
GaLaXxYStArR: Where’s that on the release notes?
NEARNIL: Oops, sorry. It was in the v62 SDK.
rosieRetro: You ain't deserve those down votes
Mister_Brevity: I guess making an entire platform and ecosystem accessible to people with mobility-inhibiting disabilities is useless?
GaLaXxYStArR: lol don’t come at me with that! Of course mobility updates are important but literally releasing 2 things that come along with a minor storage access/modding bug should have probably been held off for a little longer! Also not coming to quest 3 what sense does that make!

Smaller releases are always better. Fewer bugs can get introduced.
noematus: There's an "and more" in that release that carries a lot of weight. 😂
madrians: Laying down mode is a barf fest . I thought they got rid of it in an experimental mode ages ago .
rosieRetro: So all quest 3 users are getting is....quest cash. Why would I care about this
TrefoilHat: I’ve seen a bunch of questions asking if you can use Quest without a credit card. Presumably, this is the official Meta answer.
TheLuckyster: Quest cash sounds funny, it's convenient and cool, just funny sounding

13617: External USB mic support? Finally!
shouldkillhimself: Where did you see that?
13617: In one of the pictures in the news post
immortalavatar12: Any news about augments?
FuckSyntaxErrors: why is lying down quest 2 and pro only lol
rosieRetro: Quest 3 getting no love. I get supporting the platform that has the largest user base (quest 2) but come on...I'm tired of the quest 3 not having software optimized

pdawg17: WTF?! How crazy is that...
JorgTheElder: I wonder why lying down mode took so damn long. Folks have been asking for it since the Oculus Go days.
Suspiciousfrog69: People have been asking the option to delete uninstalled apps since the dawn of vr time. I want to hear the excuse as to why it’s impossible
Dravez23: Im not sure if this is what you are aksing for, but why not choose the “show only installed apps” option?
Suspiciousfrog69: It defaults to the show all lists so it’s an annoyance more than anything. Also my niece played on it and downloaded some weaboo games and I get roasted by friends who scroll through the library of my games when I want to show what vr is about.
madrians: Mine defaults to the last filter I used so if set it to installed apps it stays that way . What version are you on ?
JorgTheElder: That is not a technical issue. They just said no. No excuses, just no. they consider the All list to be your acquired license history.
NotReallyJohnDoe: That’s crazy. It’s an Android device and Android doesn’t work that way. You can delete apps AND get them back from your history.
JorgTheElder: The all list is your history. The installed list is the same as the regular list on Android.
OkayOctopus_: I think it’s a good feature
Suspiciousfrog69: Well that’s a big middle finger to their consumers lol
Navetoor: I’m jumping over to Google’s headset ASAP. I want an Android based OS
