You got this. It's a weird sensation, spending that much money on something you won't hold in your hand for another 30/60/90 days. Once the buyers remorse fades out, there's a wonderful sense of security coming your way too. And the power to hang pictures and shelves wherever you want them!
Last minute decision made to go down to Geelong for Chemical Brothers. I'll be going alone but I've heard good things about this show so I think it will be worth dealing with the nightmare that is Mt Duneed estate parking.
The little one seems to be getting hit hard by this antibiotic. Sheโs really not feeling well. I might ring the vet today and check if thatโs normal
Good week overall I think. Work has been a bit crazy which I'm trying to sort out with management to slow things down a bit for the sake of my team and my own mental health. Plus being at conferences doesn't help...
Been losing a decent amount of weight too, about 10kg in the last 3-4 weeks and starting to 'regain' the muscle I had when I was younger and a gym freak. I think this is more just getting my muscles used to regular exercise again so it'll plateau soon. Just trying to get in to a health(ier) routine all in all.
Sadly missed the weekly online co-op gaming session with friends since someone messed up the days. Also bought some new furniture to make the place feel a bit more homely.
Yeah, apparently things are normal. Melbcat is unhappy though. She didn't want to eat her usual medicated dinner so I tossed it (to avoid double dosing) and resorted to mixing a meds cocktail in an oral syringe. Then gave her the hated antibiotic. Plain cat food was also given as a chaser but I can't see from here if she ate it.
She's having a cuddle while everything kicks in. I'm hoping the anti-nausea pill that was crushed in there helps.
I may not be available to make the next Daily Thread. I'll be here, just might not be able to press buttons. So if anyone is up at that time could you please do it. Thank you.
I miss the days when there were fun little phone game aps that didnโt have a billion pop up adds or ongoing subscriptions or constant nagging to buy treasure chests. Sometimes I just want something a bit mindless to occupy me while waiting for appointments and feel like that golden era has gone. Now Iโll browse social media or news websites but itโs not really the same.
I still have Flight Control, Plants Vs Zombies, Peggle, Fieldrunners, and Jetpack Joyride from those early iOS days. I even paid $1.19 for some (maybe all?) of them.
Lucky! Iโd be happy to pay for games like those, but as once off, not ongoing in app. However market forces seem to be that this is not profitable compared to ads or ongoing in app purchases. Pity.
If you're on Android, have a look at installing F- Droid. It's an FOSS app store. There's some great games available through there.
Anuto Tower Defence is a good example - https://f-droid.org/en/packages/ch.logixisland.anuto/
Check out a developer called yiotro. His stuff aint flashy and almost entirely strategy/puzzle but are light on resources (i.e you can pick up and play/stop whenever without losing progress. Also won't kill your battery), and not most importantly not bloated with ads. The perfect time killer.
Some of his games are pretty fun/addictive/challenging. Paid versions are a few bucks and free for life.
Whew it's been a long day of non stop social stuff from 10-5:45, after several hours of dinner last night. Happy to have a break before more social stuff tomorrow arvo/evening then interview on Monday. My physical and social muscles are so out of use...
Now's a good time to use up my desperately flowering basil and make some pesto, picked up some orzo pasta and mushrooms to go with. Been ages since I've made orzo/risoni
I think I'm officially giving up on trying to clean the baked-on grease in my air fryer. I might leave it downstairs at the "free to good home" shelves in my building and go buy a new one. It's a shame because it's a pretty good one but cleaning it sucks (and I was lazy for too long and now it needs more serious attention than I'm willing to give it.. I've tried a few things but I'm done).
Note that is one of those times where I think of doing something, write about it online then will likely have bought the new one inside of an hour or so. That's just how things happen here.
Screams in 'waste not, want not'. Still, I do understand how bloody hard it is to clean baked-on grease. I assume you have tried all the various iterations of baking soda? And oven cleaner spray?
Anyone ever had to remove a paper wasp next even though they are allergic because it's right next to where the kids get out of the car....was quite nerve wracking.
I had a Herbert Adams beef and mushroom pie and it was the most tasteless pie I've ever eaten. They were bought because they were half price. Even that was too much to pay.
I am so cautious but I am going nuts too, 7 weeks of rest so far, haven't left the house except to visit the ER once, I have done close to zero anything except watch tv, most of the garden is dead/dying now
I found out Dragon Ball Super is on ABC iView. Back in my day you had to convince your parents to get pay TV so you could watch Dragon Ball Z on cartoon network

Cat pic because cute idiot in action. (Also sofa progress)
And some serious airplane ears for fairness
He will RUIN your catnip patch
This morning's harvest
Not a bad return on investment for the potatoes - I had a small patch in the front yard I planted about a dozen sprouting potatoes from the cupboard.
Have you studied the Dutch masters ? lol. Thatโs a pretty awesome photo
"Still life with pumpkin"
I give all the credit to the random beam of sunlight coming through the kitchen window.
I'm envious of all those tomatos.
Just transferred the last of the deposit on the unit.

So all in all, doing pretty well.
mustard, thyme, garlic and butter marinaded chicken is in the oven
I really can't overstate how amazing exercise is for mental health.
Woke up feeling like shit. Went to the gym and mood has improved 10 fold.
Yep, whenever Iโm in a funk I go lift heavy things in the gym or even just a walk outside and I feel instantly better. Love those endorphins.
My bad feelings help me lift more lol
same, i feel good for going for a walk
Just had excellent tacos with a friend

No probs. Someone will step up - might even be me.
Good morning.
Last week was awful, but the weekend so far has been good.
Collingwood documentary last night. I would follow Fly McRae into the mouth of hell.
Peanut butter bagel and a cup of tea this morning, and gym soon to follow.
Afternoon to myself. Might back up my hard drive and potter around
Dinner with a friend tonight
Life is good
Sorry to hear about last week. Hopefully things will improve for you.
Just finished eating a pita bread when I realised it was moldy.
So I guess I'm going to die soon ๐คทโโ๏ธ tell my dad I said... Hello.
Noooo! Youโll make it through.
Quick, more food and lots of wine!
No sound reasoning behind it.
what happened to your taste buds?
Cigarettes happened I think lol
Iโve done that before with bread, more than once. Youโll be right. Itโs ick when you realise, though

Have a look at Vampire Survivor. I know itโs free on iOS, the base game is available and I think from memory thereโs much not in the way of ads.
Cons is that it might eat up more of your time than anticipated.
Just downloaded it. Cheers!
Also going to point you to Phoenix 2 if you like short little space vertical scrolling shooters.
No ads unless you want revives or extra credits.

Also reccomend Vampire Survivor - garlic aura item is awesome, can never not take it
Iโm going to have to do a run with the garlic sometime, Iโm quite partial to the tome myself and lightning.
Need to play more as well since I havenโt unlocked much.
Thanks, Iโll give it a go!
I just also recommended Phoenix 2 as well if you like space vertical shooters.
Short session plays that renew daily with no ads unless you want extra revives or credits.

iPhone, but hopefully good idea for others!
If you're artistic at all you can get a drawing app on your phone to doodle.

Yep I did all the things the internet suggested at me. I don't feel too bad about buying a new one if someone else can use this one for free though.
Understandable. An expensive lesson in cleaning up as you go though. May the next airfryer be better kept.
Over on r/airfryer people recommend using avocado oil instead of olive oil in your airfryer to stop the build up of gunk.
To clean it I fill it up with hot water and detergent and take to it with a Scrub Daddy.
Mine is dishwasher safe. I chose it solely because of that fact.
Grab one with 2 drawers. Makes a huge difference.
Apparently trimming ones fringe after a few gins isnโt wise.
Anyone ever had to remove a paper wasp next even though they are allergic because it's right next to where the kids get out of the car....was quite nerve wracking.
Some sad news - Iris Apfel, style icon, has passed away at 102
https://www.theguardian.com/fashion/2024/mar/02/iris-apfel-new-york-designer-style-dies-102?CMP=Share_iOSApp_Other
She is a stellar example of โbe yourself and do not give a damn whatever your ageโ. Sad.
I had a Herbert Adams beef and mushroom pie and it was the most tasteless pie I've ever eaten. They were bought because they were half price. Even that was too much to pay.
That's because they don't add lots of cracked black pepper and red wine
The pastry was bad too.
poor quality fats
Yeah exactly. Structurally it worked but it was flavourless.

and here I am contemplating whether to go a shop , I;m worried I will make my back worse again
Doesnโt hurt to be cautious and let your back recover for a little bit longer?
I am so cautious but I am going nuts too, 7 weeks of rest so far, haven't left the house except to visit the ER once, I have done close to zero anything except watch tv, most of the garden is dead/dying now
Gaiiinnnzzzz
It gets better. I have another session tomorrow and a third on Monday.
I may die
I had salmon with salad for dinner and both Miss Meow and Mr Woof were very pleased to get some scraps.
Just had a Subway sub for the first time in about three years. Not bad. Quite satisfied
ooh which length satisfies you?
No one talks about girth anymore :(
They are thinner these days.
Do you really need to ask?

Yes coffee.
Coffee made.
there are so many movies, so much telly and I shuffle thru menus not knowing what to watch
looked for recommendations and I now have a list of what to watch ๐ :)
Sounds like a maccas cheese burger.
Yuck
Oh ! I just tried a Bettyโs Burger for the first time today. Pretty tasty. ! I feel a bit gross afterwards . Not the burgers fault tho.
Well I had a nice time out and got shouted some Bettyโs so i didnโt examine the pricing structure but ok.
