Looks pretty similar to the Scion xD from a few years back. I feel like Toyota really dropped the ball by giving up on that product line rather than converting it into their electric line. Scion was designed to appeal to a younger market and they are who is going to buy low cost electric cars.

Too bad neither of them have rabid fans like pokemon that will overlay the 3d model and try to claim they stole the design

You're probably right. It's really surprised and unimpressed me me that Toyota has taken such an anti-electric stance. They should have been ahead of the curve, but instead, they've lobbied the governments of every country to not shift to EVs. Screw those guys.

There are going to be a lot of bloody noses and some outright deaths in the auto market within the next decade. Japanese manufacturers better shape up soon or else they're going to be reduced to regional manufacturers. Nissan was an early leader, but has fallen behind, the rest aren't even trying yet.

I'm still waiting on plug in hybrid Subarus. I think the hybrid Crosstrek is their only option for that and it's bloody expensive.

One of my friends bought a Ford Maverick (pickup) hybrid, and the damn thing gets 10 better mpg than a Subaru Outback...

Yeah. That's my biggest question mark with these BYDs. Oh they're made dirt cheap in unregulated markets? Definitely going to see some Li-Ion explosions in the near future.

and 11 grand doesnt include the cost of trying to import one, either.

Right. But bringing it over to the US would also mean the manufacturer would need to import it from wherever they're making them. which also would raise the price.

Americans love to buy cheap Chinese stuff, I bet these BYD cars will succeed.. the only thing it's they have to pay double at Amazon or triple if it's Apple brand.

Cheap not equal to bad quality, just equal to production cost/sale price.
