Made it to 2nd round ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿฅณ๐Ÿฅณ

It freaked me out that they called me 45 mins after my interview. I missed the call so I thought "well, I guess it didn't take long to figure I wasn't the right person", but it was the opposite!!!

Next one is Friday with the COO, CEO and general manager. Here we go!

That's so exciting to hear. Isn't it a great feeling, that rush of attention/recognition when you get called to progress in the job application process? Fingers crossed this will be successful and a good fit

Interview in 15. Building is nice. Fairly easy to get to. Here we go!

I'm not super phased if it's not a great company because I have other options, but it would be nice to get this over and done with.

Enjoy your day everyone โค๏ธ

Good luck๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž๐Ÿคž thankfully it's not at 2pm when you'd probably be a sweaty mess (like everyone will be)

So on the back of her 3rd place last week (which was also last on account of there only being three people in the race) kidcalhoon1 qualified for district.. Raced today, butterfly again, came dead last by half a lap again, got out of the pool smiling and asked if I could buy her a tshirt. Right on kid, again.

aussie.zone

I don't think it went well unfortunately. There were a handful of bright red flags also.

I have another later today so we'll see how it goes ๐Ÿ˜”

9

Good to identify that stuff straight away though, better than finding out once you're in the building.

Woot woot, got called for an interview for a PTjob that's much more in line with how I want to spend my time! Not the most uplifting role, but it's so PT that I'll have plenty of time/energy to pursue side gigs/temp/other roles. If I negotiate the wage right it will neatly cover my rent and all utilities, health insurance for just 2 days of work. This greatly pleases my brain that hates being tied down and loves variety, but also craves basic stability. Have one job to keep the lights on and a roof over my head, and a mix of other things for the rest of the week for everything else.

I've already got another job I'm gonna apply for which would fill in the other days for a few months.

Gosh I really hope it plays out that I get away with mixing and matching and don't burn out again because I often feel thoroughly depressed thinking about how my working style really doesn't fit in with most roles.

9

sending so much good luck your way ๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ€๐Ÿ€

5

Thank you, it sounds sad but being able to work part time is something I've looked forward to ever since getting residency.

3

I'd love to afford a personal trainer, my fitness is atrocious haha. Thank you, let's hope in a couple weeks I can say I got the job

Went for a walk for the novelty of feeling 30+ degrees at 9:30pm. Feels like this hasnโ€™t happened all summer. Wish I lived near a beach, itโ€™s night swim weather.

8
aussie.zone

Just went outside to get the bins and there's a cool breeze?

Was definitely expecting much worse. I know it's still early but the current 30 does not feel like 30.

overcast AF out here, Apple said 31 but BOM said 25. Doesn't feel 31.

Edit: Rain incoming too.

4

Rain is my fault, I watered my plants last night (and got bitten by bitey bugs)

5

Yeah I saw that on the radar...hope it cools things down a bit. Don't think my evap system can deal with the humidity.

welcome to climate change. Our modelling is fucked, it's all a best guess

4

Precisely! Thank you! Everytime someone in my family ponders why the weather is the way it is I'm just like "it's fkn climate change", how many time do I have to reiterate blah!

4

Interview was fine, but the baaaad af reviews on Glassdoor put me way off.

Also, pseudo-admin, it would be mainly call centre shit. No thanks.

Playing Tyrian 2000 instead, and looking at work more aligned with the area of study I'll be going into.

Tonight is the Dune 1 & 2 double feature. I see a nap for lunch and multiple afternoon coffees in my future.

I'm also taking my own popcorn. I just need to find an appropriate receptacle for it. I'm not paying $15 or whatever for Hoyts' stale popcorn again.. and also, I have Flavorcol at home now!

7

I had considered the same, however, didnโ€™t want to sit for 3 additional hours for a movie I had seen twice already.

I want to be fresh for the new release if that makes sense.

4
Nathreply

Ooh - it's happening at my local cinema also. Running time 345 minutes! So it's going to go from 6pm to midnight!

Bachelor me would have done it. Just spontaneously decided to spend a work night doing watching two movies with no forward planning or coordination with others. To hell with the consequences! Unfortunately, responsible family-guy me cannot.

I'll probably still go the double-feature route, but part one will be at home after the kids go to bed one evening, with part two being the next day.

3

Gonna watch part 1 at home before I go, then gold class part 2 so I can get the popcorn/coke at the midway point and not need to pee an hour in cause I drank the coke before the film even started.

Looking for someone at work to peer-review my code/build. I threw in the old "Please Consider" ad as a bit of fun.

Turns out that nobody under 40 remembers that entire range of Please Consider ads. Not even the sumo wrestlers in the truck. I think that's a bit of a shame. While I'm not huge into advertising in general, those ads were good and I guess you'd say innocent by today's advertising standards.

I can sympathise - I've used "I'll get back to you Barry" a few times to blank stares...

3

That one would need the right timing and tone. Thankfully, nothing so catastrophic so as to need an "I'll get back to you Barry" ever seems to happen to us.

Have just been enjoying my early morning cup of tea in the backyard. The last of the bats are flying overhead, the crisp cool air and scents of the early morning are lovely. Today will be not so fun weatherwise I think.

6

I just took Mr Woof for a walk and it was 21 degrees when we left and already up to 24 by the time we got back. I don't think second walkies is happening today.

4

Left the main balcony door open, which I rarely do, and there's not much cool air, just a lot of freeway traffic noise. It's half past 12; how is the Eastern/Chandler still this loud? Maybe the air is carrying the sounds better tonight. Anyway, I hate it. I definitely miss that about the lockdowns. I'm over the noise and dust and general built up vibes. If the rental market wasn't so obscene I'd have moved further out by now. I want to go back to the quiet suburbs. A townhouse or villa unit in some sleepy street would be lovely.

6
lemmy.ml

I'd like to submit a request that we delay today for another time. Perhaps in the middle of winter? That'd be a nice contrast I think.

5

I prefer to just get things over and done with. โœ”๏ธ done. Mark it off my list.

5

Google is now saying 33 max today. Going to remember this comment when we get a 35+ day in June

4

Council could also recognise this and apply matte sticker coverings or something though. You know, on account of the racist messaging on public property.

They're finally tearing down the apparently sinking central pier in Docklands. Zoom on my phone isn't the best but there is a claw digger thing ripping off the walkway at the moment.

Obligitory 'ripping off the walkway comment' because no one walks there anyway zinggg.

3

I used to go to the club at the end of the pier every week. Forget what it was called, pretty sure it began with an A. It doesn't seem to show up in Google Maps, even as a permanently closed business. They did Salsa dancing there on Thursdays. Great crowd. Pretty good venue.

3

IKR? I used to buy meat at Woolies as well, just laziness/convenience on my part I guess. When I switched to a local butcher who seems to specialise in chicken it was a revelation. Quality you can see, smell, feel and taste. Then when they closed for a short break over the holidays I had to do Woolies again and.. ugh. This year I'll be smarter and stock up the freezer for when they are closed, that's for sure!

In honour of the Hot I have decided today is the day to make ice-cream. The vanilla base has been made and is cooling in the fridge, to be churned with a strawberry swirl this afternoon.

About to meet 20 or so people in the consulting network that Iโ€™ve joined for lunch. Nerves are kicking in. Schmoozing these people is important for getting work from their networks. Fingers crossed they like me!

4

My table/desk is covered in little notes and lists of stuff to do . Books are everywhere, art stuff strewn higgledy piggledy. Haven't even transferred files and shut down my old computer yet. It's a dust bowl in here. I am sick of frozen dinners. Recovery can't come soon enough . Another 2 weeks to go .

4

I bought a wifi enabled light globe and now I'm adjusting the brightness and hue from my phone.

I feel ridiculous.

Watching Brasilien tv shows has given me more travel bug , ( really just reminded of what I was thinking precovid )

Manaus, the river and the jungle look amazing. Sail the river from Santarem and go on tours to national parks.

On my phone, on the home page I can access the weather and I don't know who is giving me the privilege but lately when I press it, it will say its 17ยฐc and raining. I go outside and it's not raining nor 17ยฐc. I've come to believe this is the default "I've shit myself. I'm gonna make something up now".

2

got the boxes/blanket over the study window, sealed the place up as much as I can. ACs are both on (one on each end of the house), solar is cranking out juice. Now we play the waiting game.

3

done! only problem is both toilets are on the western wall, so everytime you gotta use the bathroom you enter a sauna.

I had no idea the AC could go that low! Tipping doing so would outstrip what my solar can produce unfortunately.

2

I'm presuming 9am, not 9 degrees.

My aircon's lowest temp is 18 degrees, although it does have an 8 degree heating setting, designed to be used mostly for air circulation and to keep temperatures above freezing when your main heat soure is a fireplace or similar.
