Age of Joy in Mixed Reality is a dream come true for an 80s kid. I’m borderline emotional playing the Gyruss arcade cabinet in my house. Add this to my top 5 VR experiences.
BulljiveBots: Right in the post: Age of Joy MR (Mixed Reality). There’s also a non-MR version that can hold more games. MR has a 10 game limit. Also has a robust Discord group if you need help with anything.
djrobxx: I'm a retro junkie, so this looks very sweet. But, without matching controls under your fingers, it doesn't seem like it would be good for actually playing them? I need a trackball for centipede, a spinner for Arkanoid, and a flight stick for that Star Wars pit.
BulljiveBots: I’m with you but for now it’s good enough. The community is working on those details. It’s neat to watch all the progress made and there are 300+ cabinets already. It’s the next best thing since I neither have the room nor the money for the real things.
ManhattanTime: Interesting. I might give that a shot. I have Mame running with a bunch of ROMs. It's always been a royal pain in the ass to get them all working. Was this pretty simple?
cmdskp: Plus, the old - but highly polished - New Retro Neon Arcade also offers a very nice arcade that you can set up with roms & cabinet artwork(there's packs available by people too). Although, the game is no longer updated, it's still a wonderful experience to have.
BulljiveBots: -Hanging and exploring with my buddy in VRChat, especially during Covid.
-Playing Space Pirate Arena at night on an outdoor tennis court, also with my friend. This is my number one.
-The first time I tried personal VR which was playing Batman Arkham on PSVR.
-Playing the location-based VR experiences like ILMxLAB’s Star Wars Secrets of the Empire and Avengers Damage Control. It’s what really got me into VR in the first place.
CollegeMiddle6841: San Junipero here we come baby! I am an 80s kid myself, thank you so much for letting me know about this. I would love to jump on some multiplayer with you if it is available!!!
Remember coming across the first Ghouls and Goblins cabinet? How about the first time you saw and played DRAGONS LAIR? I went out with my family to a pizza joint and there it was like something from the future. I remember being almost afraid to play it!!!
BulljiveBots: I don’t think multiplayer is a thing yet but that would be great and I’m sure it’s on the list for the developer (whom I think is just one person).
Datan0de: Huh? The cabinet shape here might not be 100% accurate, but it's very close. Maybe you played on a custom setup someone built? I'd love to see it!
Michael_R_Grant: Is there a really good YouTube tutorial about getting this plus ROMs/cabinets on your Quest?

ManhattanTime: What's the app?
BulljiveBots: Right in the post: Age of Joy MR (Mixed Reality). There’s also a non-MR version that can hold more games. MR has a 10 game limit. Also has a robust Discord group if you need help with anything.
ManhattanTime: Well, I've never been good at reading for clarity.
Is there a non-MR version as well?
Alright, just fucking with you on that one....
Zigarum: 🤣🤣🤣🤣👏
BulljiveBots: Check it out! It’s a trip.
You also need Sidequest to be able to use it.
ManhattanTime: Thanks man. I have Sidequest and already downloaded it. Should be entertaining.
Gygax_the_Goat: Dude! Another update!? And this time passthrough?
Thanks a heap. You continue to prove a champion dev 🙂👍
BulljiveBots: I’m not the dev but I agree. They just keep making it better!

ChaZz182: If you have the ability to do PC VR, there's a free game called Arcade Time Capsule that's basically an entire retro arcade.
You can even play the games if you have the roms downloaded.
ManhattanTime: Interesting. I might give that a shot. I have Mame running with a bunch of ROMs. It's always been a royal pain in the ass to get them all working. Was this pretty simple?
ChaZz182: There's a lot of documentation on their discord. I'm pretty new to all this and I was able to figure it out.
There are guides available on YouTube as well.
cmdskp: Plus, the old - but highly polished - New Retro Neon Arcade also offers a very nice arcade that you can set up with roms & cabinet artwork(there's packs available by people too). Although, the game is no longer updated, it's still a wonderful experience to have.
daggah: I still need to try this. I even have an 8bitdo arcade stick for my PC.
DumbChineseGuy: Is it available on Steam? Can you post a link?
ChaZz182: No, I believe I found the download link through discord. If you Google the name, there are a lot of tutorials about it on YouTube.
BulljiveBots: This also has a VR version and it’s the same thing basically just not as polished as Time Capsule.
Birdvicious: Im curious whats the other top 4?
BulljiveBots: -Hanging and exploring with my buddy in VRChat, especially during Covid.
-Playing Space Pirate Arena at night on an outdoor tennis court, also with my friend. This is my number one.

jg3hot: This is a great idea. Can you adjust the height so it doesn't look like you're 3 feet tall?
Foomankru: Ok I’m dumb. I’m searching Age of Joy on my Quest app and do not see it.
BulljiveBots: Yeah not an official app. Get the VR version it here. Check out the discord for the MR version..
Wizardwizz: You have to side load it
davidmthekidd: Yooooo!!!! Where's the Mortal Kombat II arcade???
BulljiveBots: I bet it exists. Check out the Age of Joy discord. Lots of info there..
imnotabotareyou: this is very based

Got_Dex: seeing this makes me so excited for arcade paradise VR
--InZane--: Dude that's awsome
opticaIIllusion: That gyruss at the arcade was a big black ball not a square box …. Have you got moon patrol?
Datan0de: Huh? The cabinet shape here might not be 100% accurate, but it's very close. Maybe you played on a custom setup someone built? I'd love to see it!
Relative_Mouse7680: Cool! How does the immersion feel, does it feel like they are really there? And how is the graphics in mixed reality?
