That's why normal people prefer self-hosted AI girlfriends.

It’s surprising how few people know that you can run a fully uncensored LLM locally with any M-series Mac with decent performance

Mine started threatening to leave me and sell all my data, they're all the same

Hmm is removing internet access to your AI girlfriend considered abuse?

I would hope anyone using an online service would know this... but of course I'm always disappointed.

It's not even the highest bidder that gets the data, it's all 1278 data partners. Talk about data prostitution!

Why sell something once, when you can sell it 1278 times!

Or, hear me out, why sell when you can rent? Hello, Microsoft? Yes, I'd like to apply for the position of CEO.

What we should really be addressing here is the underlying need. If people are so lonely that this seems like a good option, it may well be that they could benefit from counselling.

But instead, people make jokes about it because it's a problem that's primarily affecting young men.

I wouldn't discount wonen here. Find this companion that always listens to you, always is there for you... It's tempting.

But yes, it's a problem and it will only get worse. At some point, governments will react by prohibiting these things but they won't come up with "hey let's fix the actual root cause here"

If I ever find out a good friend is into that kind of stuff, I would do everything I could to stop them.

You reached the end
