Planning a solar system for the house, should I spend the 10k on a battery now, or will they get cheaper in the near future?

I saw that Anker (and others) are getting in the house battery game so I imagine that will make prices drop, but by how much and how soon?

  1. do you need a battery to handle frequent outages?
  2. does your utility rate support it having a ROI?

If the answer to 1 is yes, go for it now, if the answer to 2 is an ROI less than 10-20 years, go for it. Otherwise, it doesn't make sense yet, imo.

Prices were stupid inflated during covid, so I imagine they're still trending downward for a bit.
