A Chinese man who chain-smoked his way through a marathon was disqualified for smoking on the course

A Chinese man has been disqualified from a marathon after he chain-smoked his way through the entire 26-mile race, MailOnline reported.

The news outlet reported that the man, known as "Uncle Chen," completed the Xiamen Marathon in three hours and 33 minutes but was disqualified for violating the race's rules against smoking on the course.

MailOnline reported that the runner fell foul of a new rule against uncivilized behavior, which prohibited "open defecation, smoking, or trampling on flower beds or green spaces."

The Chinese Athletics Association implemented the regulation last year to encourage healthier participation in the race, the report said.

Imagine being stuck behind the fog of a chainsmoking uncle for nearly four hours because you can't overtake him

The folks I know who are big runners would not be able to handle this psychologically, put in an insane amount of work and do everything to take care of your body and make yourself better only to be beaten by a guy who clearly gives no fucks

Is that an exhaustive list? So open defecation, smoking, and stepping on flowers no, but urination, doing lines and kicking ducks yes?

Doing lines, no. Kicking ducks is most certainly on the table though.

He knows what he needs to do next time to protest.

I feel like there should be an exception where if you accidentally trample some flowers, but then fertilize them, you don't get disqualified.

This man is a hero.

Maybe not a superhero, but he's definitely qualified to be a folk hero.

So what does this disqualification do? Did he win a prize and they are taking it back?
