Unfortunately for us, we've developed a culture that is against anyone that can be seen as a 'whinger'. Anyone who has complaints about how things are run is generally seen as lazy or entitled, and the mentality of 'my life sucked so yours should too' is extremely prevalent.

Australians are world class bootlickers; we're more amenable to fascism or totalitarianism then the Chinese. The hilarious part is it;s 90% vanity,

nah mate we're the lucky country if you don't like it then get back on yer boat

but nationalism aside, I just don't see me making it to 67 anyway, the odds are stacked against so many of us right now.

I just don’t see me making it to 67 anyway

you said it man. when my body really starts to fall apart I'm taking 10k and going on a last blast bender, everything else to by nieces so they have a chance in the climate wars

Huh. I thought our retirement age was already 67.

Same here, thought it already was 67.

I think a bit of the "eh" attitude is that we have a pretty damn good superannuation system in place, which means that most people should have enough money put away without them lifting a finger to make it to 67 just fine.

lol, assuming we will have any real money in super by the time we retire... they've already started to plunder super to prop up the AirBnB market

1

I don't know when it was changed but it was phased it in over time. People this year are the first that have to wait until 67.

2

France's pension pays more than the minimum wage. Here the aged pension is almost half of minimum wage. A lot of people there have planned their retirement assuming that they'll get that nice pension.

In the future, most people here will be living off their super. Aged pension will be for people who haven't worked much and the self employed because they don't have compulsory super. The aged pension won't affect too many people in the future.

Probably because our overlords are too busy distracting us by having us fight over whether people who have been colonised and have had everything taken away deserve a louder voice on their stolen land?

Oh, you're right, let's be civilised and let absolutely everything be taken from us. Wooo!

10

far more civilized to let the poor starve in the streets in the name of profits...

You reached the end

Our retirement age just went up — so why aren't we as angry as the French? | Spyke
