What are some fun songs to sing karaoke to?

I've seen lists of songs with deep lyrics, songs that are upbeat but depressing at the same time, songs not on the radio, and other things like that... But I have never seen a list of songs that are just super fun to sing.

Some examples of things I like singing are Lewis Capaldi, anything by Chris Cornell (though I wish I could have that awesome gutteral/growly sound in my voice), Cottonmouth, Nirvana, RHCP, Tool, etc. I love long sustains and just dudes and dudettes belting out staccato. The feeling of matching pitch and tone you get in your stomach and lungs as the sounds reverberate together is exhilarating. Not to mention the catharsis of putting your heart and soul into singing along with an angry song when you're pissed.

Enter sandman - Metallica

Take on me - a ha

Take on me is a great one! but gotta get the voice really warmed up to have a chance at it

We Want the Funk - Parliament. It's straightforward, but there is a lower and higher vocal, both of which you can swap between in karaoke.

Be prepared to have the place singing with you.

My go-to is Kickapoo by Tenacious D. I challenge anyone to start singing that song without slowly channeling Jack Black's mannerisms by the end of it.

The D is so great for singing along. I am not capable to sing belzeboss without that little hand flick Dave does in the movie on: what's the ca-ha-hash?

Don't go breaking my heart Anything from Queen or Prince or bon Jovi or acdc. In the end, Whiskey in the jar There's so much good stuff that crowds will sing along to.

4

A lot of great answers in here. Another one that I've never seen/heard fail to get crowd participation is "It's My Life" by Bon Jovi.

Basically any song that has a really catchy chorus and allows you to sing it whether you're on or off-key is a winner, because karaokes are all about having fun with it.

-Starlight by Muse is probably in your style with the long held passages, if youโ€™ve got the high range for it.

-Mr. Brightside is always fun, and itโ€™s almost all one note!

-Pretty much anything by the Goo Goo Dolls

-All For You by Sister Hazel

-Learn to Fly by the Foo Fighters

I like a lot of 90s and early 2000s stuff :)

Anything Lion King is always a winner. You can see what's happening and they don't have a clue!

We got the moves - electric callboy

Presuming you're fine not exactly being good at it, multiple different style singers and switching is hard. Actually maybe jst to sing and not necessarily kareoke

Iโ€™ve been so tempted to do this, but there are some long stretches without lyrics and itโ€™s a fairly long song too.

But imagine the joy of blasting out in a crowded room:
Devil, just come on back if you ever wanna try again
'cause I told you once you SON OF A BITCH
I'm the best that's ever been!

Lol oh I have! It just hasnโ€™t won out over the gaps and length

I will give warning that sometimes its awkward during the Guitar Solo if youre just standing there or not a dancer

2

Agreed. If the crowd your with is big Wayneโ€™s World fans, it slaps. But Iโ€™ve found more often than not, the 20 minute solos kinda kill the momentum. I wish it was better received, as I am a HUGE Queen fan.

1

Sweet Caroline - Neil diamond

Take me home, country roads - John Denver

These songs always get the crowd really into it!

2

Careless Whisper - Wham!

Well known song with a great chorus that people will groove to.

2

Anything by Linkin park for me. I would also really like to fuck up a karaoke joint when they let me sing slipknot or drowning pool or something like that. Another great sing along song is radioactive by imagine dragons.

2

How about Tenacious D's fuck her gently?

I pulled that off at an impromptu outdoor karaoke event and I had 55-year-old men running up to the screen to check and make sure I wasn't just making up the lyrics as I went.

Pretty much anything that let's you belt it out and really yell into the mic.

Most songs from Blink-182 are fun to sing.

+1 to Sweet Caroline by Neil Diamond, that's a classic.

I Guess That's Why They Call It The Blues by Elton John

Either Get Ready to Die or Party Hard by Andrew W.K.

Come to My Window by Melissa Etheridge if you can hit the high notes

Gompie's version of Who the X is Alice? If you have an audience that doesn't mind cursing and might have fun singing along.

1

As a male, Mean by Taylor Swift never fails to get everyone in the crowd up and dancing. That and all the small things by blink 182!

1

Gotta say for a duet (male/female) keep feeling fascination by the Human League. It's a fun song, good chorus.

1

My gotos:

  • Hall & Oates - Out of Touch
  • Billy Ocean - Suddenly
  • Lionel Richie - Hello
  • Bon Jovi - Livinโ€™ on a Prayer
  • All 4 One - I Swear
  • Brian McKnight - Back at One

Old school == Best school, IMO

So many people across different demographics get into older songs, regardless of genre. The best songs to sing are ones that you can hit the notes and not put the crowd/your friends to sleep to.

Have fun with it!

1

As someone who can't sing high notes.

Everything - Michael Buble

Annie's Song

Your Song - Elton John.

1

Whatever you like to sing. I tend to sing classic rock and metal songs because thatโ€™s the music I like and theyโ€™re fun to sing. Itโ€™s not for everyone, but it is for me.

1

Rape Me - Nirvana, because I can't really sing and I can do the kind of talking singing he does.
