I'm also quite excited for the ammo changes; I've seen some negative feedback about it, and that kind of surprises me... I suppose it's mostly folks that like to spam fire, pre-fire, or take their chance at a lucky wall bang.

RE: the altar - I guess we're going to have more totems, huh? More random headshot opportunities for hunters chasing event points, I guess. :)
Yes, I'm super excited for this event! I imagine between the gator boss and the rain, the game is going to feel really "shaken up" in a good way!
Since the event skins seem Native American themed, I wonder if they will put some of the rarier event skins back on sale.
