Loss of freedom of movement was one of the concerns so their solution was to put movement behind a paywall (car ownership).
Conspiracy mythology is often just a projection surface for represssed authoritarian ideologies, I guess.

@FireRetardant @AngstyPony That's because what they claim to be concerned about (restriction of movement) is not what they are actually concerned about (promotion of cars). And they tie-in slogging your guts out with being able to break through that paywall.
