Do you think the original dev is regretting his apps were open source?

Definitely possible. He sold his apps to a company, and everybody abandoned his apps like the sinking Titanic.

Nope, he sold his apps to some advertising and tracking company and people fled.

I mean, if it's a one time payment then he has no reasons to regret the decision even if the users dropped off. On the other hand, if he was expecting a recurring royalty from the buyer, then he didn't think it through.

PS: I'm not justifying his actions in any manner. If a sale without a heads up is deceptive, his last reply was outright indignation. I'm just trying to understand whether he actually regretted it or not.

I can find Fossify Gallery on F-Droid, but not the others, is there any way to access them without installing IzzyOnDroid ?

I have a doubt here, these apps from fossify are actually forks from the original open-source repo.

Now, say the original repo is closed. Would fossify face some restrictions. Because the base code is actually from the repo will be owned by closed person.

any code added to the repo from now on can be closed sourced but any code from before the purchase will always remain open source so the base code that the new apps are using will always remain open source and cannot be closed and any deviation will have to occur from now on.

Edit: the F-Droid team has also halted all new versions of the base apps since they no longer comply and they will eventually be out of date and removed.
