Remembering preferences, like that I want my "front page" to be Subscribed and trending rather than active, not Local Active.. that and sorting by new are probably the big ones. If they can eventually get it anywhere near the Boost/baconreader experience that'd be incredible.
Getting people's heads around instances will be tricky but if people are looking for a specific place and are directed to it, that should be ok.
If you go to the settings for your profile you can set the preferences for the front page. Mine is now set to subscribed and new and works for the main page for the instance. No settings for the individual communits that I can see though.
Oooh I somehow missed those dropdowns when I went looking. Subscribed/Hot seems to have done the trick. Now I see today's DT above yesterday's which is way better. Thanks!

Yes, I was trained on a typewriter. My fingers insist on the double space and my brain is no longer involved in the process. I don't think I could change now, no matter how much I wanted to!
To give you an idea of the timeframe, I came first place in my typing class, an achievement for which I was awarded a Brashes voucher 🤣

I reinstalled Reddit earlier today, and I'm very sad to see the news about the DT. I haven't been there as long as some of you, but I have been around long enough for it to feel like my little internet home. It's very upsetting to see all of the conversations and memories from the sub just gone, potentially forever.
The silver lining, I guess, is that r/Melbourne was almost the only reason I even use reddit, so I guess I can get rid of it now.

In a moment of sheer brilliance, I got completely fuddled, thought I created a duplicate account, and accidentally deleted the account I just made, inadvertently locking out the other name for good. Eventually managed to get things together enough, although I ended up with a headache. Not ideal for just getting over being ill, and a different kind of headache.
I now know what it is to be like, to be 97, and not know how to computer. Admittedly, the interface not telling you that there's an issue and just sitting there loading forever did not help any.

The majority of the communities I am subbed to in aussie.zone are from other instances, usually you can search ![email protected] in the top right search area and it will come up in our instance.
You can put the full name in the search - so Melbourne would be ![email protected] . I found it didn't always work first time, and you need to have "all" selected, not communities.
I signed up on another instance before I found this one, and couldn't get to this community from there. I ended up creating a new user account here (which is how I became RustyRaven instead of BrightFadedDog). Then I managed to get it to work from the first one anyway, but my MPD was already established by then.
Ok, may as well just go back to daily rants and updates here. I think I finally might have bought almost everything I need for this place and almost removed everything I don't need. In a moment of sheer brilliance, I got completely fuddled, thought I created a duplicate account, and accidentally deleted the account I just made, inadvertently locking out the other name for good. Eventually managed to get things together enough, although I ended up with a headache. Not ideal for just getting over being ill, and a different kind of headache.
I now know what it is to be like, to be 97, and not know how to computer. Admittedly, the interface not telling you that there's an issue and just sitting there loading forever did not help any.

You can toggle to see/not see avatars in the settings. Go to the top right and find the 三 looking button and click on your username, scroll down to Settings to configure this.

The majority of the communities I am subbed to in aussie.zone are from other instances, usually you can search ![email protected] in the top right search area and it will come up in our instance.
You can put the full name in the search - so Melbourne would be ![email protected] . I found it didn't always work first time, and you need to have "all" selected, not communities.
I signed up on another instance before I found this one, and couldn't get to this community from there. I ended up creating a new user account here (which is how I became RustyRaven instead of BrightFadedDog). Then I managed to get it to work from the first one anyway, but my MPD was already established by then.

Ok, may as well just go back to daily rants and updates here. I think I finally might have bought almost everything I need for this place and almost removed everything I don't need. The last part is a lie. I bought cats new toys and they still want to play with what's on my desk. Bit the audio cables and stuff.
About to do another aa meeting. Did much better than getting drunk with my enabler today and the opportunity was there. One day at a time as they say. Higher power? Its those people, not some god or anything, I listened to them for hours last night and they're pretty normal, believe in each other and what the teachings say, that we spend too much time being self indulgent and not enough time being giving.
I got upped on my hormones and tonight I feel superior to my old self in a lot of ways. Dr could have so easily lectured but I'm 100% honest with him so he doesn't. We have a meeting of minds, informed consent but not just on the hormones. It's very refreshing. ADHD likely he thinks also. Great. Got my wig bangs cut nicely too ,,,
After crying in the drs surgery to the replies I read about lamenting the dt dying I feel actually elated to see so many familiar faces here. There's a few people I blocked in the past, and that was then. I'm sure we've all moved on from whatever petty beef we had. I hope so anyway.
